Kunst, Kunst, Kunst!

Art, Art, Art!

Art has the task of reflecting society ...

Thus, some of my paths led me to the Musée d'Orsay, which is an art museum in the 7th arrondissement of Paris.

This art museum is located on the south bank of the Seine opposite the Tuileries Garden. Originally the building was a railway station:
Called the Gare d'Orsay.
This building was built on the occasion of the World Fair in 1900 and was used until 1939 for long-distance traffic in the southwest of France.

French President Valéry Giscard d'Estaing then decided in 1977 to turn the station into a museum.

The Musée d'Orsay exhibits paintings, sculptures, graphics, photographs, works of arts and crafts, design and architecture, all of which, with a few exceptions from the period 1848-1914, all come together.

The property, on which the Musée d'Orsay is now built, experienced an interesting history even before its construction. It is said that at the beginning of the 17th century parts of the garden were said to have been found there by Queen Margaret of Valois.

However, after her death in 1615, the garden was parceled out and sold, followed by town houses and on the banks of the Seine, the port La Grenouillière.

And it was in this place that the Prévôt des marchands Charles Boucher d'Orsay had a quay built in 1708, which after years was named after him "Quai d'Orsay".

From 1838 on, the present-day museum was the site of the Palais d'Orsay, built by Jean-Charles Bonnard and Jacques Lacornée, the seat of the Cour des Comptes (Court of Auditors) and the Conseil d'Etat (Council of State), and then to the east were a cavalry barracks.

A misfortune, however, destroyed this night and so it happened that in 1871 the Paris Commune burnt down the Palais d'Orsay by a fire.

This ruin was more than a quarter of a century, until the construction of the station, in exactly this place and this place.

¡Arte, Arte, Arte, Arte!
