The Dimosari waterfall is one of the main natural attractions of the island of Lefkada. However, in the middle of summer, it is just a small stream flowing off the cliffs (find the waterfall on the first photo) but even at this time, it is unusually beautiful. In addition, in the heat it is always nice to walk in the cool shady forest.
I'd like to share a few photos of our walk to the Dimosari waterfall.
The waterfall is located to the north-west of Nidri, the largest resort town of Lefkada.
The start of the route you can reach by car; directly to the waterfall is a hiking trail about a kilometer long.
The way to the waterfall passes through a rocky gorge along the river.
The route is not difficult, but comfortable hiking shoes are recommended — as you approach the waterfall, you will have to make your way between large stones.
Groundwater in the mountains of Lefkada is the reason for the dense vegetation of the island, as well as numerous streams and rivers.
The river of Dimosari runs between the stones and is almost invisible. In some places, the riverbed expands forming small lakes.
In the summer there are a lot of people, both tourists and locals — they escape from the heat and swim in the natural pools of the river.

Despite the icy water, people are happy to swim in a small lake right under the streams of the waterfall.
