Venice Carnival 2018 - unforgettable memories

January 2019 · 2 min read

Hey, my dear Steemians!

This time, last year, I was preparing for my first trip of 2018 - Venice. My goal was to attend the famous Carnival of Venice.

It was one of the best trips from previous year, with a lot of fun and enjoyable moments. I highly recommend Venice during Carnival time, despite the crowds. It gets more vivid and it brings you unforgettable memories. We were also lucky enough to have good whether with no fog, nor rain.

This year, the carnival is scheduled between Feb 16 - Mar 5, 2019. The flight of the angel(most expected event) will take place on Feb 24, 2019.

If you are interested, my recommendation would be to try to find an accommodation within the old city center. The distance is quiet significant and the nights in old city town of Venice are magical. If you are booking it a few weeks/one month before, you might get some affordable prices. I was lucky enough to stay at a lovely B&B at 5 minutes walk from San Marco square.

Try to be there during the week-end as it is a lot more animated. Lots of events are planned throughout those week-ends. You can get the schedule for the entire period from one of the info centers located in San Marco square. They also have nice tours within Venice and around it. I would suggest a half day tour to Murano and Burano islands. You will not be disappointed. 2nd half of the day will be better as you might admire a lovely sunset over the beautiful small islands.

The authentic Venetian masks can be vary expensive. The price depends on the technique, materials used and how complex is the pattern. However, they are all amazingly beautiful and they have a huge variety.

I couldn't help it, so I bought my own mask:D
