Art of old jewelers

Arriving in Kostroma, many heard that Kostroma is the jewelry capital of Russia. This is not entirely true. The jewelry capital of Russia is an urban-type settlement 36 km from Kostroma. And if you are interested in jewelry, then you should definitely visit this village and go on excursions at a real jewelry factory and in the museum of jewelry traditions.

36 kilometers from Kostroma (the city in which I live) is another village, which is called the village of Krasnoe-on-Volga. This place is very interesting because historically there was a professional community of jewelry craftsmen.

Mention of this settlement begins in the annals in the 16th century. In those days, the village belonged to Boris Godunov, who, as you know, was the Russian tsar before the great turmoil.

Residents of the village of Krasnoe were engaged in jewelry and thus the village gained fame in Russia. By the end of the 19th century, the products of the village of Krasnoye were presented at all major fairs and had a reputation throughout the country.

Then master jewelers were guided by inexpensive products from copper and silver. Particularly popular were religious items. Crosses, icons, image.

Today the village has turned into a small city, but the traditions of working with metal and jewelry craftsmanship have been preserved. In a small city, a large number of large jewelry factories and small factories are concentrated.

Today, in addition to traditional religious and religious items in the village of Krasnoe-on-Volga, a lot of products are made from gold and other precious metals. A lot of gemstones are used and various modern technologies for applying special coatings, grinding, weaving, casting and much more.

The production of gold jewelry with diamonds is one of the main directions in the development of the jewelry industry in Krasnoye-on-Volga.

But the old traditions are preserved and there are many masters who continue the work of their grandfathers and fathers and create religious items from silver.

Several such products came to me on the set, which had to be shown somehow, relying on a connection with nature. I had to spend a lot of time on this work.

Find and select backgrounds, take photos and process them, so that the depth of field covers the entire product.

But the customer was pleased with the result and that means I did my job well. Now I wanted to show you the art of our local jewelers who created quite interesting products.
