Yaroslavl is a beautiful ancient Russian city

July 2020 · 3 min read · Yaroslavl

Warm summer day!

In such weather, you want to be outside. Walk and look around.

Since in my hometown I had already bypassed all the roads, that day it was decided to go to the neighboring city - Yaroslavl.

Yaroslavl is an ancient and beautiful city. Quite recently, we celebrated together with the residents of Yaroslavl 1000 years of this city.

The road to Yaroslavl is not long. To get from the center of Kostroma to the center of Yaroslavl, you need to spend only an hour.

And so, we parked our car at the walls of the monastery on the banks of the Kotorosl River. This will be the starting point of our walk.

Today I don't want to talk about the history of the city of Yaroslavl. This is a large and complex topic that I do not really know. But temples and architectural monuments make me immerse myself in this topic in one way or another.

The first thing that meets me in the center of Yaroslavl is a monument to the founder of the city - Yaroslav the Wise.

This is a historical character who did a lot for the development of the Russian state. According to legend, he hunted in these places. It so happened that a big bear came out to meet him. The bear was the most formidable predator in this area. Yaroslav defeated the bear and thus won the respect and recognition of the locals.

By the way, the image of a bear has remained for centuries on the coat of arms of the city of Yaroslavl.

But Prince Yaroslav the Wise is known not only for the victory over the bear. During his reign, a large construction of both temples and cities was launched.

He made the state richer and thus earned the good memory of posterity.

And we pass by the monument and move along the small streets of the center of Yaroslavl.

An ancient temple is visible on almost every street. Beautiful domes adorn the city.

Yaroslavl is a big city. It is more than two times bigger than my Kostroma. This affects the richer infrastructure. There is more fun and work.

It is an industrial city and has environmental problems. It turns out that you have to pay for everything. Wealth brings problems.

But today I have no problem. I just walk and enjoy the beautiful streets and the beautiful people on the streets.

Enjoy your walk with me!
