LUANG PRABANG - Amazing Views from MT. PHOUSI

January 2020 · 2 min read · Luang Prabang

During my stay in Luang Prabang, I fell deeply in love with this lovely city. So I decided to dedicate another post (more are likely to follow) to it because after all this charming little town has a special place in my heart so it should also have a special place in my blog. This is just going to be a short post about the famous viewpoint on top of Mt. Phousi but the view from up there is truly stunning and I want to share it with you.

The way to the top continues like this. Not difficult at all.

Located in the center of town, the Hill is right in the middle of the Night Market Street. The entrance fee is 20,000 Kip, but they don't tell you that until you are already halfway there. You will see some birds in tiny cages which can be purchased and released at the top for good luck. It is bizarre to me and I have a suspicion that these animals were trained to come back so they can be sold again. I don't have any proof for that though.

Mt. Phousi is right opposite of the Royal Palace. Once you get past that first set of stairs you get this amazing view!

Sometimes you gotta hold on just to appreciate the beautiful blue sky right above you.

The walk is relatively easy and not too steep. It only takes around 15 minutes to reach Wat Tham Phousi Shrine. Most people only come up here for the view, but there are some that come here to pray.

The shrine from the inside. Take off your shoes before entering!

And last but not least, the thing you came here to see: The view!

Absolutely beautiful!

I am not sure what they are building over there but I think it's going to be a dam.

I came too late to see the sunrise and too early for the sunset

PS. I am posting on travelfeed but I know some of you are using steemit to read my posts. I noticed that the captions under my pictures disappear on steemit. Is that normal?
