Trinidad de Cuba [PL, ENG]

March 2021 · 5 min read · Trinidad

Ostatnio zabrałam Was na krótką wycieczkę do Havany, dzisiaj chciałabym pokazać inne miejsce, które mnie urzekło na wyspie - Trinidad de Cuba.

Last time I invited you to a short trip to Havana, today I would like to show you another beautiful place of the island - Trinidad de Cuba.

After leaving Havana we headed south, visiting several places along the way, as the crocodile bay of Playa Larga, Laguna de Tesoros and the town of Cienfuegos. But there's nothing much impressive, to be honest.

A Trinidad, to inna historia.

And Trinidad is a different story.Trinidad is a city in central Cuba, located on the hills above the Caribbean Sea and inhabited by approximately 73,000. people. It was one of the leading sugar trade centers in the New World, and now is one of the island's main tourist attractions. The Old Town was enlisted on the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1988.

According to the guidebooks, in Trinidad we should feel as if time has stopped. It is a slight exaggeration; I have certainly been to many other "fusty" places. But I have to admit that Trinidad is a very charming little town that is teeming with life at night - there are a lot of tourists who flock around the squares and pubs with drinks in hand.

A skoro o drinkach mowa - to w Trinidadzie właśnie należy koniecznie spróbować tamtejszego specjału - Canchanchary.

Speaking of drinks - in Trinidad you should definitely try the local specialty - Canchanchara. They serve it in such clay pots as in the picture below.

Canchanchara is a nice and refreshing novelty after drinks served in other parts of the country - sweet mojitos or cuba libre. The recipe is simple and the effect is delicious. Later we nquired about Canchanchara in other parts of Cuba, and sometimes we were served with it.

Przepis na Canchancharę

Nic prostszego :)

  • 50 ml rumu (najlepszy to oczywiście Havana Club)

  • woda (najlepiej gazowana)

  • miód

  • świeży sok z limonki

  • kostki lodu

Recipe for Canchanchara
Nothing easier :)  - 50 ml of rum (the best one is obviously Havana Club)  - water (preferably sparkling)  - honey  - fresh lime juice  - ice cubes I do not specifically mention the proportion of honey and lime, because it is good to match it to your own taste buds.

Being in Trinidad, it is worth to go the nearby beach and dive into the Caribbean Sea. It is a bit of driving, but it's not difficult to find a driver who will gladly take you there.

Każdego wieczoru gości tysiące imprezowiczów - wraz z występami kabaretowymi, pięcioma parkietami tanecznymi i trzema oddzielnymi barami.

And finally, a nice idea to spend an evening in Trinidad is a disco ... in a cave - Disco Ayala
It’s a nightclub with a true underground vibe - housed in a natural cave. It hosts thousands of partygoers every night - complete with cabaret acts, five dancefloors, and three separate bars. The club, which can accommodate between to 4,000 people, is open seven days a week with parties lasting until 3am.

Trinidad was the last stop on our tour of the island. Then we headed to the beach in beautiful Varadero. After more than a week of traveling and sightseeing along the Cuba, it was a great and well-deserved rest.
