Interested in spending a week in a picturesque small Italian town, where literally nothing happens in low season, there are almost no tourists except you, and the biggest attraction you can imagine is going out for a pizza? Welcome to Palinuro :)

Palinuro to małe miasteczko położone we Włoszech, w prowincji Salerno, w regionie Kampanii; położone jest na brzegu Morza Tyrreńskiego, w południowej części Cilento. Miasteczko znajduje się w odległości 7 km od miejscowości Centola, 8 km od Marina di Camerota, 10 km od Pisciotta i 80 km od stolicy prowincji Salerno. 

Palinuro is an Italian small town, the most populated civil parish (frazione) of Centola, Province of Salerno, in the Campania region.Palinuro lies on the southern side of Cilento, on the Tyrrhenian Sea and in the northern part of Cape Palinuro. It is 7 km from Centola, 8 km from Marina di Camerota, 10 km from Pisciotta and 80 km from Salerno.

Nazwa miasta pochodzi od Palinurusa, bohatera mitologii rzymskiej, sternika statku bohatera trojańskiego Eneasza, zgodnie z 5 i 6 księgą Eneidy.

The name of the town is derived from Palinurus, the helmsman of Aeneas, as recorded in the fifth and sixth books of the Aeneid.

Samo Palinuro jest uroczym miasteczkiem, w którym jest kilka pizzerii, niestety poza sezonem otwartych tylko w określonych godzinach. Jest też knajpa, w której lokalsi przebywają od rana, i mały sklep - biedronka, ale o gabarytach małego sklepiku osiedlowego. Jest też kilka plaż, z których jedną mieliśmy praktycznie na wyłączność.

Palinuro is a lovely town with a few pizzerias, unfortunately open only at certain hours in the low season. There is also a pub where the locals spend their time from early morning, and a small local shop. There are also several beaches, one of which was practically exclusively for us.

Pogoda w październiku bywa kapryśna, a woda do najcieplejszych nie należy. Co oczywiście nie przeszkadza morsom na zażycie bardzo przyjemnej kąpieli. A tak naprawdę, było całkiem ciepło.

The weather in October can be capricious and the water cold. Which, of course, does not prevent walruses from taking a very pleasant bath.

Z głównych atrakcji w Palinuro należy wymienić spacery. Widoki są naprawdę fajne.

Uwielbiam architekturę południowych Włoch. Domy zbudowane są tak, że z poziomu ulicy wchodzisz na dach. Na dachu można znaleźć zarówno miejsce wypoczynkowe, jak i parking dla samochodu. Do domu od ulicy wchodzimy z poziomu dachu, a dolny poziom domu wychodzi bezpośrednio nad wodę - może tam być mikroplaża, ale raczej są skały i mały podest z wejściem do wody.

I love the architecture of southern Italy. The houses are built in such a way that you can enter the house from the street level through the roof. On the roof, you can find both a lounge area and a car park. The lower level of the house overlooks the water - there may be a micro beach there, but rather there are rocks and a small landing with an entrance to the water.

Podobne rozwiązanie jest w hotelu Palinuro - wchodzisz przez dach, tam też jest parking.

A similar solution is in the Palinuro hotel - you enter through the roof, there is also a parking lot.

Kiedy już doszczętnie brakowało nam gwaru turystów, mniej więcej pod koniec tygodniowego pobytu, postanowiliśmy wyskoczyć na pizzę do większej miejscowości - Agropoli. Kręte drogi sprawiają, że podróż autem trwa blisko półtorej godziny w jedną stronę. Warto było dla tych widoków na miejscu...

When we really missed the buzz of tourists, more or less at the end of our week long stay, we decided to go for a pizza in a larger town - Agropoli.  Winding roads mean that the journey by car takes almost an hour and a half (one way).  It was worth it for these views on the spot...

... jak również tych po drodze. Soczysta zieleń wzgórz, góry zatopione w chmurach, i te mosty! Niestety, nie mieliśmy za bardzo możliwości zatrzymać się, żeby zrobić zdjęcie, więc poniżej pożyczone z Google Maps i innych otchłani internetu, aby choć trochę oddać to niesamowite wrażenie.

Unfortunately, we didn't have the opportunity to stop to take a picture, so below I borrowed some pics from Google Maps and other abysses of the Internet to reflect this amazing impression at least a bit .
