Chasing waterfalls- Mangta falls in Bakun, Benguet.

June 2018 · 3 min read · Benguet

Tiny waterfalls trickle down over the rocks where they glitters in the sunlight reflected off rock . It is said that in the old times, when the early loggers came, the first tree cut down could not fall because the forest was so dense there was no place for it to land.

Only by thinking of the place Benguet, you usually imagine a picture of majestic mountains, beautiful and astonishing rice terraces, freshly picked vegetables, and freezing climates. It is a place worth exploring if you want to experience an adventure of another level, especially if you love conquering peaks or simply being close with nature. Bakun, one of the municipalities in Benguet, is an awesome starting point when discovering the hidden gems of this magnificent mountainous region.

One of your itinerary that should be on your list?

Bakun, Benguet is indeed a perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city, great for your soul searching, and a mystical place to chase a breathtaking view of the waterfalls that sluiced down the cliff side.
One of the falls that you can visit is the Mangta falls, my best-loved of one of God's creations. Situated just nearby the Poblacion Power plant. What I love so much is the natural sound of the falling fresh water is like a music to my ears, it can be my lullaby at night. When you dip in the water, it was so cold and refreshing. Great spot to have a picnic with family and friends. This water fall is truly a one of the many gems of Benguet where it presents how this place was blessed abundantly. Actually, there more falls in Bakun, which is you have several to select from. There is the Dalingaoan Falls (also known as Tres Marias), Tekip Falls (I'll feature it soon), Picao and Sacop Falls, Wanga-Barbarit Waterfalls, and Mangta Falls. Make sure to bring a camera as all of these local attractions is a perfect picturesque view and great souvenirs.

How are you going to get there?

From Baguio, take a bus bound to Bakun, and this journey will take 6 hours, it may take longer if the bus will stop frequently. A long trip, but oh so worth it. Likewise, you can take your private car with 4X4 you will be passing rugged roads that it may take up to 5 hours faster than the bus.

Bakun is a beautiful place to visit so mark your calendar and have an adventure. Surely you will enjoy and mesmerize.
