The Tegalalang Rice Terraces - Ubud, Bali

The Tegalalang Rice Terrace are one of the most famous tourist attractions in Bali. It's a huge Rice Terrace with lot of hiking possibilities. It's a very famous spot for Instagram, but it is also really impressive. There are swings all around for the perfect experience. It's very unique and definitely a must do!

After a really long stay in Thailand, it was finally time for something new and something excited. I made amazing friends in Thailand who made me feel like home and I am so grateful for everyone that crossed my path. But for the next month, my focus will lay on Bali! I'm going to stay a whole month in this paradise.

Backpackers Home Ubud

I arrived in Bali at 1 am in the morning. I had pretty late flight coming from Bangkok. And because I spent too much time in the more expensive Bangkok, I decided to save money and sleep in the Airport.

After one of the shortest sleep ever, I got a 'grab' (Uber equivalent) and made my way to my place for the next few days. I'm staying at Backpackers Home Ubud. Which is a very cheap hostel in Ubud.

Ubud is a great area and is known to be more laid back, amazing scenery and close to everything what Bali has to offer. I use the first few days to rest up and get a lot of work done. I edited all the pictures from my trip to Kanchanaburi. I finished the blogposts and scheduled everything. But now it's time to go and explore.

Tegalalang Rice Terrace

My first stop in Bali is the Tegalalang Rice Terrace. This is one of the things that I know Bali is known for. Their Rice Terraces! So I wake up in the early morning before breakfast time, I take my scooter and drive to the Terraces.

I want to come early, because I don't want to be surrounded by tourists in the hot time of the day. I arrive around 7 am and I can only see a few photographers here. The lighting is great, it's just perfect for relaxing and snapping pictures.

The first time I saw the terraces I was surprised. These are really huge! I didn't expect them to be this big. It's very overwhelming.

Inside the Terraces

I make my way inside the terraces. One guy told me that there is an entrance fee to the terraces. And other blogposts confirm this, but I didn't have to pay anything. I think I was just early enough. I didn't go to the main entrance, there are many entrances along the road. I really think you can get in for free.

Once you make it inside the terraces it starts to get really amazing. You have to walk on these small pathways through the terraces. First it goes down all the way until you are on the bottom floor. There is a river running here and some bridges over the river. Then on the other side you can hike up again.

The whole terraces are amazing. You cannot miss while in Ubud. It's the perfect way to spend a morning and I think I will come again, just because it feels so great. There's no strictly guided path, it's feels adventurous and you are allowed to explore it on your own in this whole open space. I love it.

There are also a few swings around in the terraces. I think you can use these for a small fee, but there was no one to operate them while I was there. This would be perfect for one of my Mystery girl shots, but she's not here.

Drone shots

I'm very happy I brought my drone to the terraces. It's already spectacular walking through it. But from the sky it's even more impressive! Here are some of my favorite drone shots. Enjoy :)

I'm currently changing my travel/work routine. I have been going to one spot in the morning and then use the afternoon to get work done. Since I invested into Lightroom, I spend a lot more time editing pictures. I can really play with the colors and change the way a picture makes you feel.
