SV Coffee & Bakery: Canberra, AUSTRALIA.jpg

This was a little coffee break that my wife and I took recently... our relatives were talking about a little coffee place that had started up during the coronavirus period in a residential area, and they said that it was a really nice place to visit with decent coffee. Not really in our neighbourhood, but I thought that it would be nice to try it out anyway!

So, during a little break, we took a quick drive to see what all the fuss was about!

The Space

As you can see from the lead photo, this is definitely a residential area. Canberra does tend to have a batch of little shops in each suburb as part of the original design of the older suburbs. In the past, that made lots of sense and created a little hub for connection. But these little hubs have tended to fall into disuse with the advent of large malls... but have recently made a resurgence. However, the newer suburbs don't really have them...

... and so, we have this little coffee shop opening up in a residential suburb during the corona period when travel was restricted to a certain radius or when people were less keen to go to the large malls.

SV is really beautifully local first... with lots of information about local businesses and events. And the owners are really friendly as well...

... there is even a little public library... a sort of book exchange, where you can just drop off or take books as you wish. And there is a Justice of the Peace time each week! Definitely community orientated... as it can be quite difficult to get a Justice of the Peace for some official document stuff if you don't happen to know one!

The Food

Now, the real event... the coffee and the food. I would have to say that the coffee was okay... not the best that I've had, but the little bakery goods WERE pretty nice!

The Experience

SV is a great little community hub for the local residential area.. the food and coffee are okay, and I could imagine that it is a great place to walk down to if you lived in the area. They provide lots of important community services as well... but I'm not sure that I would drive here specially to get a coffee... especially if that same drive brings me to other places that I prefer. So, a great place if you live in the neighbourhood! Actually, if you live close by, this is pretty damn awesome!
