Thailand is known for it´s many beautiful temples and the Island of Phuket alone hosts 29 of them. Wat Chalong is the biggest and most prominent out of these 29 Temples. Two days ago it was a bit cooler and cloudy here, so we took the chance and visited the Temple.
Thailand ist bekannt für seine vielen schönen Tempel und die Insel Phuket beherbergt allein 29 davon. Wat Chalong ist der größte und prominenteste dieser 29 Tempel. Vor zwei Tagen war es hier etwas kühler und wolkiger, also haben wir die Chance genutzt und den Tempel besucht.
Wat Chalong or formally known as Wat Chaiyathararam lays in the district of Chalong, south of Phuket city and just a short 30 min Scooter drive from where we live.
Wat means Temple, so every Temple in Thailand starts with Wat while Chalong stands for festival. The Temple was built in the early 19th century and hosts a few Buildings including a viharn, a ubosot, a chedi, a sala and a crematorium.
It is open daily from 7 am to 5 pm and the admission is free for everyone. But before you enter the Temple you will have to pass the 4 Guardians of the Temple! No simple task
Wat Chalong oder offiziell bekannt als Wat Chaiyathararam liegt im Bezirk Chalong, südlich von Phuket Stadt und nur eine kurze 30 Minuten Scooter Fahrt von dort wo wir leben.
Wat bedeutet Tempel, also beginnt jeder Tempel in Thailand mit Wat während Chalong für Festival steht. Der Tempel wurde im frühen 19. Jahrhundert erbaut und beherbergt ein paar Gebäude, darunter ein Viharn, ein Ubosot, ein Chedi, eine Sala und ein Krematorium.
Er ist täglich von 7 bis 17 Uhr geöffnet und der Eintritt ist für alle frei. Aber bevor du den Tempel betrittst, musst du an den 4 Wächtern des Tempels vorbeikommen! Keine einfache Aufgabe

After you entered the main gate at the entrance you can park your scooter and start exploring the large grounds.
We first went into the main temple which is the biggest building on the grounds. It already looks very magnificently from the outside. As soon as you´re in the temple you see lot´s of Buddha statues and gold. Gold seems to be everywhere. I´m not quite sure what is real and what is not but it looks awesome.
Nachdem man das Haupttor zum Eingang betreten hat, kann man seinen Roller parken und das große Gelände erkunden.
Wir gingen zuerst in den Haupttempel, welcher das größte Gebäude auf dem Gelände ist. Schon von außen sieht er wirklich prunkvoll aus. Sobald man im Tempel bist, sieht man jede Menge Buddhastatuen und Gold. Gold scheint überall verwendet zu werden. Ich bin mir nicht ganz sicher was davon echt ist und was nicht, aber es sieht großartig aus.

All the details inside and outside the temple are really amazing. The smells of incense sticks and burned fireworks, which is regularly fired in a small brick house, make the atmosphere unique.
As always, try to come early as it can get really busy during the day and quite hard to take photos without hundreds of other tourists on it.
All die details im sowie außerhalb des Tempels sind wirklich Wahnsinn. Die Gerüche von Räucherstäbchen und verbranntem Feuerwerk, welches regelmäßig in einem kleinen Backsteinhaus abgefeuert wird machen die Atmosphäre einzigartig.
Man sollte wie immer versuchen früh zu kommen, denn tagsüber kann es sehr viel los sein und es ist ziemlich schwierig, Fotos zu machen, ohne dass hunderte von anderen Touristen darauf zu sehen sind.
Since the main building is the only walk-in, you can admire the other buildings only from the outside. But after we had gone through all 3 floors of the temple I was already completely exhausted thanks to the high humidity.
So I used the rest of the time to take pictures of the other buildings. In places like these, you can really take thousands of pictures.
Da das Hauptgebäude das einzige begehbare ist, kann man die anderen bauwerke nur von außen bestaunen. Aber nachdem wir alle 3 Stockwerke des Tempels durchlaufen hatte war ich dank der hohen Luftfeuchtigkeit sowieso schon wieder total fertig.
