Old Petrie Town is a small restored historic village north of Brisbane in Queensland. While there is not much going on during the week it´s well worth to spend some time there on a sunday, and that´s what we did.
Old Petrie Town ist ein kleines, restauriertes historisches Dorf nördlich von Brisbane in Queensland. Auch wenn unter Woche nicht viel los ist, lohnt es sich dort einen Sonntag zu verbringen, und das ist es, was wir an unserem letzten Sonntag in Australien getan haben.
We were told that the best time to go there is on a sunday as there will be a market as well. During the week most of the historical shops are closed.
We´ve seen many markets and we love them but we were more interested in seeing the old buildings. And there is plenty of them.
The two buildings which you will see first when entering the little town are the Bakehouse and the Queensland National Bank.
Uns wurde gesagt, dass die beste zeit dorthin zu gehen am Sonntag ist, da es Sonntags auch einen Markt gibt. Während der Woche sind die meisten historischen Geschäfte geschlossen.
Wir haben viele Märkte gesehen und wir lieben sie, aber wir waren mehr daran interessiert, die alten Gebäude zu sehen. Und es gibt viele davon.
Die beiden Gebäude, die Sie beim Betreten der kleinen Stadt zuerst sehen werden, sind das Bakehouse und die Queensland National Bank.
It was interesting to wander around and see all these old buildings. You feel like you´re back in time. Besides all the old buildings like a church and a chapel there also was a old Routemaster which was converted into a mobile cafe.
Es war interessant herumzuschlendern und die ganzen alten Gebäude zu sehen. Man fühlt wie in der Zeit zurückversetzt. Neben den alten Gebäuden, wie einer Kirche und einer Kapelle gab es auch einen alten Doppeldecker Bus, der in ein mobiles Café umgewandelt wurde.
For me the best thing about Old Petrie Town are the 300 years old Moreton Bay Fig Trees. These trees loke like out of a fantasy movie. We´ve seen such trees before but these were pretty big and the roots looked just amazing.

Das Beste an Old Petrie Town sind für mich die 300 Jahre alten Moreton Bay Fig Trees. Diese Bäume sehen aus wie aus einem Fantasy-Film. Wir haben solche Bäume schon einmal gesehen, aber diese waren ziemlich groß und die Wurzeln sahen einfach erstaunlich aus.
