My Travel 2018 #6: "The rich culture of Mountain Province at BenCab Museum"

May 2018 · 3 min read · Benguet

Hello everyone!

How's your summer adventure?

I had a great time with my recent travel in the Mountain Province of Benguet. As a promise, I will be sharing you my Tuba, Benguet experience in my BenCab Museum exploration.

We stayed in Baguio City as the center location for our planned itinerary, we got our accommodation in Wharton Tower. From there, an approximate 30mins travel without traffic along the way to reach the museum. And one more thing, since this place is in the mountainous terrain, the road is kindda sloppy and tricky, so brace yourself and enjoy the exciting ride. Haha!

The museum is located outside the City at No. 6 Asin Road, Barangay Tandiangan, Tuba, Benguet. So, guys if you have no wheels, better to rent a car if you don't want to take chances on the passing taxi or cutting trips in the public jeepney which will take much of your time.

First, we purchased our tickets along with the museum guide and map at the entrance ticket counter. For general admission, it costs Php 150.00 while student rate is Php 120.00.

Wondering whos with me? Of course with my favorite travel buddies, @meetmysuperego and @youngblogger24. 🤗🤗

BenCab Museum was named after the Contemporary National Artist of the Philippines, Benedicto Cabrera. In which each piece of artworks are the artist's collection of his own.

The museum showcases the preservation of arts, culture and tradition of the Mountain Province or Cordilleras.

The Cordillera Gallery promotes the ancient way of life, culture and traditions of the natives in the form of wooden sculpture, relics, and more indigenous arts and crafts.

But what caught my interest was the Erotica Gallery.

Oppsss! Lets take a closer look first on the ADVISORY written on wall :
"This gallery contains works with imagery that may be offensive to minors and certain individuals."

As you can see these are composed of the sensual work of arts. And in my perception, I saw nothing but the real beauty of arts. 😍

Also, the place highlight the artist’s collection of paintings, drawings, prints, and sculpture... and these are just few of them. My camera was actually captured hundreds of photos, I just chose some of my favorites to share with you.

But not only that...

There's the breathtaking view of the garden when you're on the 3rd floor balcony. You will see the pond, the nipa houses and the greens around on the ground level of the museum adjacent to Cafe Sabel.

After our learning exploration, we had our lunch at Cafe Sabel that caters organic fresh foods. We have the Strawberry and Wild berry fruit Shakes, platters of Taal Rice, Cream of Mountain Rice and Chicken Cacciatore.

So if you're planning to be in Baguio City and nearby towns, you better put it on your list.

Also, another place to visit in Tuba, Benguet is The Holy Land for some religious aspect... and I will be featuring that on my next blog.
