Roman Holiday

May 2020 · 4 min read · Rome

It was winter, I turn on my Xbox 360 I start playing "Resident Evil" online and I find myself in a group of Italians, I turn on my microphone, I put on my headphones and start talking to the guys, presentations, "where are you from?" "What do you do?" as you kill not to end up monsters in the game.

We are nice to add ourselves as friends, we exchange the phone number and between chatter and matches comes the summer.

The friend asks me to join them in Rome city where they live, I had nothing to do I prepare the backpack I buy the ticket of the high-speed train and in just over 3 hours here I am in Rome capital of Italy.

To welcome me in the station there are them, my friends online, handshakes and we leave for 2 fire days for this beautiful city with my new friends as a guide.

We immediately set out on the road since the things to visit are many and the time is short, probably not enough for everything.

On the way to the centre the first thing they make me visit is the "Circus Maximus" built for horse racing in 329 BC Immeasurable has a width of 140 meters and a length of 620 meters, already my eyes had gone crazy :-)

The next stop was at the "Colosseum" and if before my eyes had gone crazy, here was pure emotion. Huge, beautiful and grandiose, it took quite a bit of patience to be able to get in given the mileage row for the ticket, practically half a day lost, but the wait was worth it. The beauty of the "Colosseum" is one of the many symbols of Rome but perhaps the most famous in the world.

Coming out of this magical place we headed to the ”Trevi Fountain” making many stops in other tourist sites of disarming beauty, never in view, my eyes saw so much beauty altogether. A short stop at the ”Mouth of Truth”

And on the way, there were a succession of really evocative places

On the way, while the heat made us school industrial quantities of beer :-), we passed by "Piazza Venezia"

Another place to visit. My new friends turned out to be nice guys, party fearful because they were people unknown to me, our friendship was based on online games turned out to be nice and good people.

On the way, we passed by "Piazza Navona", in this city where you look you see the beauty in every corner in every street in any construction.

And still enchanted at "Spanish Square" with its fountain in the shape of a boat, with hundreds of people to visit this beauty.

Here we are at the "Trevi Fountain", also here full of people but I still managed to toss the coin out of desire, wish cost dear since I had only a 2 euro coin... and it didn't even come true :-) For now.

The tour then continued to "Castel Sant' Angelo" another enchanted place, needless to say that even here was full of visiting people, in Rome any place is full of tourists.

Moving forward we went from the "Roman Forum" other construction that should be visited if on a trip to Rome. Here the place is enchanted full of details, extraordinary things.

Stop at the "Vatican" immense place, it made me a little feel to see where the pope looks, my grandmother's favorite broadcast and to be there when the day before I saw my grandmother watching that place on TV was strange, strange but beautiful!

Arriving in the evening we decided to walk up from the "Giannicolo" and then make a video of the sunrise on the Roman city which unfortunately failed because the bitter surprise came in the morning!... it was cloudy and then rain.:-(

It’s been a few years since this adventure, dusted off in this quarantine period, those days remained imprinted in my mind, in addition to having fun with the boys, I visited many enchanted places that I will never forget. This place is also marked in my agenda as a place to come back to visit better.
