Wednesdaywalk: One day in Kazan city

October 2019 · 3 min read · Kazan

This is my entry for the @tattoodjay's Wednesday walk challenge.

I have not had enough time to participate in this challenge for a long time. But all this time I have been collecting photos from walks, hoping that I will publish them someday. And now the time has come to talk about one of the walks. Or rather a short trip.

At the beginning of summer, I managed to go to the city of Kazan for one day. It is an old beautiful city with an extensive history and cultural traditions.

I flew to Kazan by plane. And I started taking pictures already on board. It turns out that it is very interesting to catch beautiful views in the window of an airplane.

You can create a composition of roads and settlements, as in this photo. The wing of the aircraft can successfully complement this composition.

It's funny to watch shadows from large clouds on the ground.

When we arrived in the city, after a short rest, we went on an excursion. The first place we stayed was Lower Boar Lake. It is located in the city center.

There are many cultural and historical places around the lake.

And on the lake, athletes are engaged in kayaking and the townspeople ride in boats and catamarans.

There is a pedestrian street along the lake where tourists and townspeople stroll.

There is a small quarter of the Tatar settlement near the lake. This is the place where the old way of life of local residents is recreated.

There are many old wooden houses with bright colors.

There are restaurants and souvenir shops in the courtyards, as well as other attractions and places to spend time.

A large brick wall is decorated with modern graffiti on historical subjects in this courtyard.

Another street leads along the block, separating it from more modern residential buildings. There are also colorful old houses and an old mosque. It seems we were told that this mosque is about 300 years old.

By the way, this mosque is still functioning. During the walk you can hear the prayer of the muezzin and see Muslims visiting the mosque.

In the evening, after a walk, we visited a restaurant on the other side of the lake. After dinner, I headed to the lake to enjoy a beautiful sunset. This is not the first time I've been here and have loved to meet the sunset by the water.

Somewhere on the other side you can see the spiers of mosques. One of them was in the photos above.

The sun always looks interesting in this frame of weeping willows.

And when it was time for us to get ready for the hotel, I decided to go there on foot. On the way, I passed through a local attraction - the Millennium Bridge. Here I decided to try to take a photo with traces of headlights. It turned out a little blurry, but interesting.

In the photo you can see the pylons in the form of the letter M.
