Cycling from Ukraine to Lisbon: Celje (day 15)

December 2019 · 3 min read · Celje

It's a part of my cyclist's diary. This year I made a trip from Ukraine to Portugal. Subscribe to follow the updates - 1 post\1 day of cycling.

Saw the fox near my tent in the morning, when I just woke up. And found that unknown creature tried to eat the coupling of the drinking system (probably it was a rat). It failed to damage the coupling, but left a few scars on it. Never leave the valuable things outside your tent! (ok, but what about the bike? it's too big to put it inside:) )

Started to cycle early, but spent a lot of time in mcdonalds near Celje using free wifi.

I have a lycamobile sim card - 4 gb of mobile data for 14 euro, sometimes it's not enough to transfer large photos and browsing different maps on internet :).

Spent few hours in Celje, exploring it and climbing the castle mountain, and later cooking a lunch on my stove in the center of the city, near the fontaine.

Actually, there are 2 castles in Celje. Lower, new castle is inside city center. Closed.

Older, and higher castle - on the nearby mountain. Explored it from outside. To get inside you have to pay 6 euro. Not so big amount of money, of course, but it's more then my daily budget in this trip (I spend 4-5 euro per day in Europe) :).

So, today cycled not a lot of kilometers. In the evening tried to camp on the hills far from main road, but found no spot for my tent. Asked the locals, they recommend me to go down because the rain is coming and "the wind could be really heavy here".

So, decided to stay in the field near the river in the valley. It's close to the road.

It's raining while I'm cooking my dinner inside the tent.

Tomorrow want to be in Ljubljana.
