Travel plans 2020 - cycling between 2 lion's cities

December 2019 · 2 min read · Lviv

Happy New Year!

I'll share with you this idea of bike touring route. There are other options (North America), but they are more expensive and it's difficult to get visas.

As my friends know, I'm planning to cycle around the world. But I don't have time\money to do it in 1 trip. So, every year I'm completing the parts of that Big Journey.

This year I cycled from Ukraine to Portugal - Cabo da Roca, the westernmost point of Europe. To cross the Eurasian continent, need to continue in opposite direction also.

Ukrainian Lviv (Lvov, Lemberg), historic medieval city and popular tourist destination, is named in honour of prince Leo, son of king Daniel of Galicia; Leo means "lion". Singapore, Southeast Asian city-state, also has it's name after lion - siṃha in Sanscrit.

I want to connect this 2 lion cities with my 2 wheels and 2 pedals. With ultra small budget, wild camping and using Warmshowers hospitality exchange.

The green marker on the map means "already traveled" part of the route (fall 2018). That was the journey around Black sea, from Ukrainian Izmail to Turkish Istanbul.

Not decided that I'll made it with 100% sure - as always, there is no certainty in my life. But I'll try to do my best :).

Such a trip will require more preparation than Europe, more budget and more time than Europe (the most comfortable and essentially easy travel region).

Problem areas: Pakistan (from the border near Zahedan to Quetta it's dangerous, according to authorities, which is why the police force travelers to move in their cars, do not allow them to move around and transfer them from a checkpoint to a checkpoint, forcing them to settle down and hang out in certain hotels . Other border crossings do not seem to be available to foreigners right now. Still looking for information.

Bangladesh - according to reviews, is too crowded with people and have big issues with sanitation and hygiene. It may be better to travel around the northeastern Indian states.

Myanmar - there is a problem with wild camping (police is coming and forces you to move to the hotels).

Of course, I'll post the updates about preparations and the journey itself.
