| In one of my last "Cycling" posts I mentioned the golf course near Shaoguan University. I was confused that it hadn't shown up in the photos I took till the end of March 2007. So, I checked & had to notice that for some reason I had deleted some folders from 2006 on my laptop. Found them on a backup drive & therefore today it goes back to November 2006 (& next time finally I can post about the golf club). | In einem meiner letzten "Radel"-Beiträge erwähnte ich den Golfplatz in der Nähe der Uni Shaoguan. War leicht verwirrt, daß er in den Bildern, die ich bis Ende März 2007 gemacht hatte, noch nicht auftauchte. Mußte feststellen, daß ich aus unerfindlichen Gründen einige Ordner aus dem Jahr 2006 gelöscht hatte. Fand sie aber auf einer Festplatte mit einem Backup & darum geht es heute nochmal zurück in den November 2006 (& beim nächstenmal kann ich endlich über den Golfplatz schreiben). |

| These are some small farmers at work. The 2 women in the background are harvesting rice with sickles, while the one in the foreground is working with a hoe. You can still see that in the countryside in China. Particularly in Canton, the fields are often so small that it's perhaps the most economic way to work them. | Hier sieht man ein paar Kleinbauern bei der Arbeit. Die 2 Frauen im Hintergrund ernten mit Sicheln Reis, während die im Vordergrund mit einer Hacke hantiert. Sieht man auch heute noch auf dem Land in China. Vor allem in Kanton sind die Felder oft so klein, daß dies vielleicht die ökonomischste Art der Bearbeitung ist. |

| Many farmers in the area are into aquaculture nowadays. It's easier & earns more. So, around Shaoguan you will find many fish ponds. Above in the background you can see Shaoguan University, btw. | Viele Landwirte in der Gegend sind heutzutage in die Aquakultur gegangen. Ist einfacher & bringt mehr ein. Also sieht man um Shaoguan viele Fischteiche. Oben sieht man im Hintergrund übrigens die Uni Shaoguan. |

| The villages themselves sometimes look quite idyllic, but in many cases they are just plain ugly. Here in the foreground, made of yellow bricks (usually dried, not burnt), are stables while in the background is a typical (for Canton) village house. | Die Dörfer erscheinen zwar manchmal recht idyllisch, aber in vielen Fällen sind sie einfach nur häßlich. Hier sieht man im Vordergrund Ställe aus gelben Ziegelsteinen (nur getrocknet, nicht gebrannt) & im Hintergrund ein für Kanton typisches Wohnhaus. |

| One nice thing about all that water in Canton is that it attracts dragonflies. You find a lot of them & many different species. They're not necessarily easy to photograph, but are worth the hunt. | Ein positiver Effekt all des Wassers in Kanton ist, daß es Libellen anzieht. Es gibt Unmengen davon, noch dazu viele verschiedene Spezies. Sie sind nicht unbedingt einfach zu fotografieren, aber die Mühe wert. |

| When fish get harvested, usually the fish ponds are simply drained until the fish are concentrated in a few puddles. Some don't make it into the puddles, though. | A lot of frogs of a number of different species can also be found. This one is perhaps a Johns' frog (Rana Johnsi) or Zhenhai brown frog (Rana zhenhaiensis). (That's a picture I already used on steemit. Found the post when I was googling for the species. I really wonder why I deleted those folders.) | Viele Frösche unterschiedlicher Arten sind natürlich auch unterwegs.
