AMSTERDAM WALK DURING THE LIGHTS FESTIVAL

We went to Amsterdam Saturday for a visit and a walk-along in the city during the lights festival to go to THE CARRÉ WINTER CHRISTMAS CIRCUS. As a starter for our Pre-Christmas family outting to the Christmas Circus we checked in at the biggest transit hotel in Amsterdam, and took the transit bus to the city centre like we did in October. Later we will return here to the restaurant for a pre-Christmas dinner.

This year like the last two years in december we visited the Christmas circus. This year the circus celebrated the 35th anniversary of the World Christmas Circus Europe/Monte Carlo with an impressive and festive program including some of world’s best circus acts. We are fans, the circus is magic. We will be treated to live-performances both on the ground and in the air and most of them are award-winning acts and with performers from the biggest and most renowned international circus festivals in Europe, such as the famous royal circus of Monte Carlo. A few names are : YURI VOLODCHENKOV, GIA ERADZE, RUSTAM GAZZAEV, CHINESE GROUP JINAN, CLOWNS FROM THE USA STEVEN & RYAN, REVOLUTION GAUCHOS, ANASTASIA MAKEEVA, STEVEN ELEKY, TUNIZIANI, THE JASTERS, DUO LAOS, KALINKA KALINKA and all of that under the musical guidance of RUSLAN FILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA.

This will be the premiere of The Royal Circus Gia Eradaze from Moscow, which were awarded with a Golden Clown at the Monte Carlo festival this year. The director of the show Henk and his daughter Elisa van der Meijden both have had a very contemporary view on the Russian circus: beautiful colourful costumes, impressive choreography and mesmerizing movements. The Royal Circus, with more than 30 performers, is the Russian answer to Cirque du Soleil.

Additionally, the Sky Angels, Golden Clown winners in 2017, will be performing during this special anniversary. In total, more than sixty Golden Clown winners have performed at Carré over the last 35 years. Moreover, the World Christmas Circus is not only one of the biggest Christmas circusses in the world, it also gained the status of THE circus festival of all festivals. And thats something to be proud of. And we have that tradition is our family for christmas. And for us thats one of the highlights of the years. Although the chairs this year were a bit to high in the balcony sector for the boys.

The performers for the 35th annual World Christmas Circus have 100 different nationalities, among which Russian, Chinese, American, Mexican, Italian, Spanish, German and much more! And God they are so good. We had the afternoon show and that began at 16.00 hours. We say on the balcony on the third story, a bit to high for the boys because in Carré all is round so without a kids seat they wouldnt have seen all of the show. The show took 2 hours and 45 minutes with a great off 20 minutes. Long enough by the way because the kids loose interest after hours. Carré is a really old building that was a circus about 100 years ago and its in the middle of Amsterdam besides the water and famous for the shows ( not only cirsusses ) held there.

WE HAD GREAT DAY and the parking and travelling from the hotel Van der Valk Schiphol where we would have dinner later was great and both walking and seeing Amsterdam from along side the water was a great way to spent today. I will blog about the light festival and the restaurant later in a tasteem and another travelfeed blog. Because that on its own is a great way to spend an evening in Amsterdam aswell, and i just can’t do all in one blog sorry.
