We went to Amsterdam as a starter for our trip to the Mediterranean. We went on another type of boat. We went on the canal cruise after we had checked in at the biggest transit hotel in Amsterdam, before our Mediterranean cruise starts tomorrow.
No trip to our capital Amsterdam is complete without an Amsterdam canal cruise, with Lovers cruises. Get to know the beautiful Dutch capital on a charming canal boat, with a captain who will tell you all thats to see when you float along all thats beautiful in Amsterdam. We walked to the Prins Hendrikkade through the city and along the Dam.
With kids its also a great way to see a lot without them getting tired or bored. We got earphones and even we as Dutchies were tourists for a day. The best thing is we all know a bit but to hear the rich history of buildings is grand to know and see the UNESCO World Heritage sites, endless bridges and houses in typical Dutch architecture and urban development. In Amsterdam, you'll always discover something new every side you look. We went on an hour cruise but there is so much to see that we wanted to do another one. But shopping was on the agenda to, sorry guys!
The best is the nice buildings and the different shapes. The IJ is the open water where all the Europe Rhine cruises dock and the new employed and young professionals and juppies work. It’s all offices combined with the new living. What also is better seen from the water is that most buildings are not straight any more, due to time and water those buildings have become completely skewed due to the subsidence of the city.
In the pictures all the nice buildings are there, the Magdeburg, de Stopera, The National Ballet and opera, and the biggest bank building and the mayors office. If you get the opportunity to go to our beautiful capital go there its 16 Euro per person and its all worth it.
All in all a great day and the parking and travelling from the hotel was great and both walking and seeing Amsterdam from the water was a great way to spent today. I will blog about the shopping asap.
