Diarrhea infused reflections on my preferences

Diarrhea infused reflections on my preferences

November 2019 · 3 min read

I guess I'm now officially a patient of post-Steemfest blues, because I just can't shake the feeling that I should've not left the SteemFest Afterchill island, Koh Chang, just yet.

Or maybe it's just the diarrhea.

Yeah, I got a pretty bad diarrhea, so I just decided to lock into my bungalow for three nights straight and fast about 48 hours - physically and mentally (shutting off my phone completely). However, I did give myself the pleasure of reading a book which I actually finished (it was a thick book).

I know that the party is largely over, I know that there's only couple of Steemians hanging in Koh Chang anymore. I thought that it would be fun to explore some other parts of Thailand, too, not just Koh Chang and Bangkok, but I had to come all the way to Ko Phangan to realize that I don't really give a shit. I don't give a shit about stuff or things to see if there's no one to share it with. And fuck did I realize only by leaving how big of an emotional attachment I had grown for Koh Chang already. I don't form emotional connections to places alone, I make them with people, which just happens to take place in a given environment, therefore the place becoming important, too. But in the end, the place doesn't matter, it only matters where the people are and where friendships are made.

I know it's a beautiful view and that some people are jealous of me being able to witness it, but honestly, I barely give a crap about it.

Though I luckily went to Koh Chang and experienced the most important things, so the regret is only about feeling like I'm wasting the remaining of my holiday somewhere else where it doesn't actually make sense for me to be in. So in the silver lining, my own preferences have again become much more clearer to me, so I guess it's not all wasted.

Anyway, I'm out of the island on Sunday - sooner than planned - because the weather cast is promising rain from Monday to Thursday in Ko Phangan. That is the last mistake to make: staying in the rain whilst in Thailand, gonna waste 4 booked nights, but fuck that honestly. Bangkok will at least have good weather and some familiar faces in the hostel staff in the place I've been staying.

Now, I'm gonna finally head out and still try to enjoy the weekend as best as I can, go to the beach one more time, take a massage and hopefully eat without suffering from pipe problems anymore, otherwise I have to start looking for some medical help. I want to enjoy my fucking food, because that's one of the best things in Thailand I enjoy almost as much alone as in company.
