Ang Thong is a town located two-hour drive from Bangkok. It has the world’s highest statue of Venerable Luang Phor Thuad which’s 51 metre height in body.
Before the Covid-19 pandemic, I planned a trip to Bangkok with my family. Besides visiting some popular tourist spots and shopping malls in Bangkok, we decided to explore further to go to the temples which 2-3 hours driving distance from Bangkok.
The Venerable Luang Phor Thuad Temple is located 2 ½ hours driving distance from Bangkok. We booked a 1 day car trip to visit the temple.
Besides that, we prayed for late dad and sister for living peacefully in another world. Venerable Luang Phor Thuad is one of my late dad respectful Venerable during his lifetime.
The temple was built next to a lake. The beautiful water view was creating the sense of welcoming to the visitors at arrival point. We took a long walk through the timber decking and boardwalk and then walked all the way to the entrance of temple.
There was a large market place at the entrance of Venerable Luang Phor Thuad Temple where sold many Thai local products, food, hats, clothes, souvenirs, supplies, etc that provided wide range of choices for the tourists to shop here.
The market stalls were built with bamboo leaves and wooden material. The building architecture style was ancient and original design.
The hats sold in reasonable price and good quality. There were many different design style of hats. I bought several hats to distribute to my best friends as souvenirs from Thailand.
Continue walking from the market place, we reached the entrance to step into the Venerable Luang Phor Thuad Temple, our destination.
The long and widen walkway was built on the lake. The huge statue of Venerable Luang Phor Thuad could be viewed from the market place and also the main entrance as well.
The restaurant was providing Thai local dishes. Because we already had our early lunch, we didn’t drop by this restaurant to have meal.
The restaurant has beautiful water landscape. The diners can enjoy the meal while viewing the overall temple scenery.
Once we stepped into the main hall, we saw the believers bowed their heads and worshipped and lights offering to Bodhisattvas.
The other side of the temple entrance was providing coins offering for the believers to do offering to Buddha and Bodhisattvas.
The main hall of the temple has a small statue Venerable Luang Phor Thuad and right behind the small statue if the huge statue located at outdoor.
Every Thai person knows and respects the Venerable Luang Phor Thuad.
In Thailand, every driver will wear the icon of Venerable, because there is a custom in Thailand saying that if someone dies due to car accidents, he must not wearing the icon of Luang Phor Thuad. Therefore most of Thai people will wear the icon of Luang Phor Thuad.
There is a crystal ball in the hands of Venerable Luang Phor Thuad, which can eliminate the suffering of all beings and change their fate.
The outdoor landscape was more on formal garden design concept. There were 2 water ponds at both side of garden and the planting design which’s linear and in straight form. One pond was planted with waterlily plants and another with clear water.
The view from the outdoor garden to the main hall. The beauty of architecture and formal garden was creating the tranquillity and harmony ambience in temple landscape.
Besides the main hall, there is a retail shop that selling some souvenirs and snacks.
The nice weather during visiting the temple landscape made us feel extra relaxing and enjoyable.
Guess what is this? This is the fish feed. We bought some of these for feeding the fishes in the lake.
They were so excited when we gave the fish feed. They came towards to us and some even watched and waited for it. Haha..
I was so happy to feed the fishes. When seeing the happiness of fishes, my worries suddenly gone and disappeared.
Another side of the retail shops provided donation section for temple roof tiles. We had donate with my late dad and sis names. It is great merit and increase blessing and good fortune.
On the way to go back, we saw several water ducks swam freely on the lake. The beauty of water view combine with the temple landscape was creating the quiet and solemn ambience in temple landscape.
I hope to visit again this temple in my next trip to Thailand as I will definitely dine in at the Thai restaurant while enjoy the temple water landscape.
