I recently set up meetings for my team, which is spread out across the eastern United States. We arbitrarily decided to have the meetings in Pittsburgh after our plans to hold the meetings in Boston fell through. In deciding which hotel to stay in, we settled on the Residence Inn North Shore without realizing what a great location it is.
The Pittsburgh airport is not particularly close to downtown. So the uber fare was about forty dollars. The hotel is located directly across the street from PNC park and about two blocks from Heinz field. Check in was quick and painless. I headed up to my room, which was a standard suite type room.
The suite is typical for Residence Inn. The large room has a kitchenette, living room and bedroom all in a studio format. The bathroom has sinks outside the toilet and tub area for anyone traveling with family. That can be comevwnient. The suite has a flatscreen television, coffee maker, full sized refrigerator, kitchen sink, microwave and more. There are plenty of outlets near the two work stations to charge up your electronics.
My room faced the ballpark, so I had a great view of the stadium. Residence Inn includes a full breakfast with a wide selection of hot and cold items to choose from. This hotel has recently been updated, so everything feels newer to include the stylish breakfast area.
Our meetings were downtown. The first day, we piled into the hotel shuttle for a free trip to our building. However, we learned that the subway was free and only three stops between the hotel and work. The subway stop is across the street from the hotel. We used the subway for the duration of our trip. Getting around was super easy.

Like most hotels in this chain that are in the city, parking is not free. The parking lot is owned by the city, so there is a charge for parking. We didn’t rent any cars and didn’t need any either. Between free public transportation and the dining options near the hotel, we had plenty to do and see within walking distance. The waterfront is also just two blocks away with great views and a running trail. If you opt to work out at the hotel, the small gym has decent equipment and several options to choose from.
The staff at this hotel were super friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay. The room was clean and comfortable, breakfast offered many choices, the location included nearby entertainment and plenty of restaurants and the subway offered close access to transportation. I would definitely stay here again.
