Norway is a country that no matter where you go or what route you take you are nearly guaranteed to find some amazing scenery! This country is full of amazing nature, such as mountains, fjords, rivers, lakes and much more. The Atlantic Ocean road is something quite special, as it is a series of bridges that connects the small islands in the area. Although the scenic road is only around 8 kilometres, it offers up some amazing scenery so deserves many stops along the way.
This area (like alot of Norway) is fairly touristy, and also alot of campervans stopping along the way. However, this didnt get in the way of our enjoyment here as we were used to it by then. Norway isnt short on places to stop top take in the view - we seemed to find rest stops every few kilometres all over Norway. We didnt make any excuses for not having amazing views with our lunch each day. What was quite amazing as we stopped along the way was how clear the water was, and how many small rocks and islands there were and how they all seemed interconnected.
This part of Norway is where there were ALOT of fjords and mountains and it was an incredible backdrop during this drive. We were there at the end of last summer, and so there was no snow on the mountains which was a bit disappointing. However, the upside was that it wasnt too cold - we were told by locals that this was a warm summer, although we didnt think so!
Some of the bridges were pretty incredible in design! This was quite an experience because alot of Norway is either connected by tunnels or by ferrys. So this was something a little bit different and unique. The bridge below was probably the biggest one, and as you can see was quite steep. It was really fun to drive across and gave another perspective to the area as we were up higher and could see more of the connecting islands.
We also found a lookout which took us a bit higher up aswell. This made for a great photo, and again some perspective on the surrounding area.
Although not the easiest to keep steady, we managed to get a couple of shots of the area while driving. Looking at these shows how remote this area is - it is amazing to think that people live here - on either side of the Atlantic Ocean Road are small villages. Like most small villages in Norway they were very picteresque.

Overall the Atlantic Ocean Road was a worthy place of visiting in Norway as part of our road trip. The great views and differing landscape offered something special that we hadnt experienced in Norway before.
