US Capitol Building

During my trip to Washington DC, one of the guys that I was with wanted to go to the Capitol Building. We had no clue how far of a walk it would be when we set out from Arlington Cemetery. I just checked Google Maps and it is about a 5.5 mile walk one way.

At least the weather was super hot and humid while we were there so it was awesome to walk that far, especially for both of us to be carrying all our camera gear. When we got there it was worth the walk because the building looked cool.

There wasn't very many people in the area, probably cause the building is so far out of the way from everything else and no one wants to walk this far from everything else just to take a picture of the outside of a building.

There was a party going on outside on one of the balconies. Security said it was the senators or something. It was nice to know that it was most likely tax dollars were being used to let them all party in luxury up there.

When we were done taking pictures, we didn't feel like walking another 5 to 6 miles back, so we found the nearest subway station and hitched a ride back. That was an adventure in itself. I had never used public transit here in the US before.

All in all, I would say it was worth it to wonder around the streets of DC in the heat to go get pictures of the Capitol. Now I don't have to go do it again. I should have rented a scooter to zip around on.
