First of all. I like this country and all the friendly people. Traveling Egypt is very nice and I always feel safe. Diving here is wonderful!

Travel is fun and always someone like to rip you off

You know this situation.

After a long trip to your local airport, a lot of queuing and waiting for whatever, you enter your flight and reach your destination after several hours in that aircraft. Now you only like to be in your hotel for some relaxation and for sure a beer.

BUT

First you have survive the entry process and this time in Egypt we saw another nice way to rip you off.

Let me tell you the story

As on many flights, you get this papers for your Visa at the airplane. Fill in your name, passport number and some facts about your travel and your destination hotel.

Than you enter the airport and after a little walk, with many signs where they state a price of 25€ for the visa.

In that huge room, you enter next, the travel agents from the company you booked the trip to Egypt, start yelling to everybody to come to their place. They try to grab you attention with all their colorful signs - they do a great job, as you nearly don’t see the little official signs to buy your visa.

The whispered price

As every „stupid“ tourist we followed the noise and color to queue up with many other tourists to get the bus to the hotel - and a visa.

So, I asked the loud jelling guy from FTI tour operator for the price of the visa and I heard a very very silent 30 Euro

Looking to my group and we quick calculation like this. My smart wife directly pointed to that small shop over there.

hmmm, 30 € times 4 is 120€ and 25 USD are around 22 € times 4 is 88€ - means this is a quick save of 32€.

They try to rip me off

Hey, entering a country and giving a little bit extra is fine, but here they like to have more than I pay for a good box of Belgian Beer and to be honest, this is a NoGO!!

How the story ends

We went back to that little official shop, paid 100 € and got back some local Egypt money and our cheap visa.

Happy start and just a 20 Minute bus ride to the hotel.
