#Travel Diary 14- One Magical Day in Eternal City of Rome..

There are a lot of fascinating cities in the world. And I feel myself lucky to have been in one of them. With its unparalleled history, it is the third most visited city in Europe and the fourteenth worldwide. That is the city of Rome.. It attracts visitors from all over the world who are impatient like me to discover the city’s impressive monuments and archaeological sites. Rome was called the "Eternal City" by the ancient Romans because they believed that no matter what happened in the rest of the world, the city of Rome would always remain standing.

We were four friends wo looked forward to discover Rome.. Our first direction was of course Colosseum.. It was started to constuct in 72 years BC. Despite the fact that it was quite devastated by the earthquake, it managed to preserve its historical texture. it is a building that attracts the first interest of tourists and is often mentioned. One of the most important events in the history of the first name of the Colosseum is to build gladyator fights. The gladiators who were seen as folk heroes of the period were fought here and at the end of the fight, the loser would be killed. These fights were the greatest fun of the folk. In addition to that, wild animals were released to the arena and the losers were being watched how to be torn by these animals.. However, this savagery was ended with the arrival of Christianity. Apart from these, it was used as a theater, quarry, shelter and religious buildings.

As soon as we leave the Coliseum, the Roman Forum appears with historical ruins. This was the center of politics, economy and law for more than 1000 years in ancient Roman times. Although many buildings now look like ruins, this is actually one of the largest archaeological sites in the world. When I was walking side by this view area, I felt the magic duality of Rome with its modern and historical soul..

When we saw this white-skinned structure on our left, human we started to move forward with curiosity. It stands in front of you with all its majesty in Piazza Venezia. It's impossible not to see. It was built between 1885-1991. The building, which was built in neoclassical style, was in fact it was made for the first king of the United Kingdom of Italy Vittorio Emanuelle II. They used a lot of marble in its white structure. There is a terrace a the top.

In Rome wherever you walk, you see a monument or an architecture. Especially in squares. We walked all the way going to Trevi Fountain. We wanted to enjoy every street we passed.

In the end, we came to Trevi Fountain.. Trevi 3 means 3 roads. It was built by Nicola Salvi and completed in 30 years. According to the story the king and his soldiers were about to die from thirst and this fountain appeared. The king and his troops freed themselves from water and saved. There are many sculptures on the fountain, but the most important is sea god Neptun. Tourists coming to Rome throw money by making wishes. So they believe their wishes will be accepted and they will come back to Rome again. I didn't throw money because I don’t believe such a thing. But I didn't know that thousands of euros were collected every week in the pool and that money was donated to the charity and the food was provided to the poor. if i had known for this i would throw .. I must tell you it was over crowded. We showed a big effort to find a place to watch this amaze and take pictures..
