Weekend Caravan Living in the Woods, By the Lake | Madrid, Spain.

June 2020 · 3 min read · Madrid

Spent the better part of the past weekend camping in a caravan by a lake here in Madrid, a place called San Martín de Valdeiglesia. It seems very popular because it was super crowded and lively.

Besides having to sleep in the tiniest places I have so far in my life, I'd say it was rather fun for the most part. It's something different, just one I'd probably do once an year.

Great experience nonetheless.

 The Caravan

Like you can tell, it has very tight space and I could barely fit in my tiny bed. It started raining at some point and that was such a cosy feeling.

I enjoyed just sitting out there in the jungle, sipping some wine and enjoying the views of the lake, the woods and listening to the birds singing.

This caravan is super self sufficient. Has a kitchen space, a bathroom and a dining place. I remember thinking of people who live in tiny houses/ caravans at some point and it felt like living a scene from a documentary I have watched before.

Things to Do Out Here By the Lake..

Part of the reason this place is so popular is;

1. Water Sports - boat rides, canoeing, swimming

2. The Lake Views

3. Camping Experience

I was there for all the above. I started off sitting by the rocks, just enjoying the views and the feel of fresh breeze.

I also learnt how to inflate a boat which unfortunately left my back sprained, but hey, you live, you learn.

We didn't get to use it though. Apparently one needs some sort of licence to have a personal boat in the waters. EU is super complicated! It was a great skill to add onto my set though :D

Did I mention I had never canoed in my life before? Shit, this was HAARRDD. But eventually got the hang of it. I could get used to sitting in the water just looking at the bright blue skies.

Of course the best part of the evening was sitting by the restaurant aka Chiringuito and sipping a glass of wine while over looking the lake.

It was such a beautiful view. The mountains in the background gave this place such great vibes, very picturesque.

I don't know what you guys were up to, but whatever it was, I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did mine. I'll be sharing more photos of this place in the coming few days. I had so many of them and I'm just trying to sort them out.

Hope you enjoyed this mini blog, have a great day!
