Street Art tour in Bushwick, NY

October 2019 · 2 min read · New York

Every time I go to New York City, I make sure to make some time to walk through Bushwick. The neighborhood is ok, sometimes a little lonely and at night a little scary. But damn, It’s Street Art Heaven.

I have spent some nights staying in this area in a couple of trips to NYC and in addition to the street art, it is a lot cheaper than staying in Manhattan and it is very well connected with the city. In less than 15 minutes you can be in the Lower Manhattan taking the J line of the subway. It is quicker than staying in Dumbo or Williamsburg.

Even if at night it looks a little scary because it’s lonely and has large cellars everywhere, I never felt in danger. But I’m Mexican so that feeling might be different for you.

This neighborhood is currently being gentrified, which has its pros and cons, but right now is the perfect spot to take a big overdose of great street art. But be careful you could become addicted.

There are spot where you could turn at any direction and enjoy a nice piece.

You just need to keep walking turning and exploring the area.

If you ever feel lost and could not find any art piece, just go over Google and seach for the Bushwick Collective there are many routes to follow.

I usually walk from the east to Manhattan. That way I end up in Williamsburg and if it is Saturday and in season I could eat at Smorgasburg. A great food market that sums up the gastronomy of the big apple.

Also a big plus to this tour is the view from the East River to Mahattan. You can see the hole skyline and take a nice postcard home.

I leave you with some murals from last year.
