July 2020 · 4 min read · Chattogram Division

Intro:

Bangladesh is a very small country in South Asia. Although it is a small country in size, Bangladesh is one of the most important countries in the world in terms of population. About 160 million people live in 147 thousand square kilometer area. It is a riverine country and most of the people live in the villages here so traveling in the villages of this country is very easy for anyone to enjoy. Since I have been at home for a long time due to the corona virus situation, I have experienced several trips to the village house like a few days ago I traveled by boat with my village school friends in the afternoon. So today I will share the experience of boat trip this afternoon and some pictures.

Trip Planning:

In fact, it was not a planned trip but suddenly I met some of my friends at the market and we thought of a boat trip. Now that the rainy season is underway, there is water in the surrounding fields and rivers. Lots of boats are available to get from one place to another. So, we chose the boat for the afternoon trip.

About Boat Travel and Situation here in Bangladesh:

Boats are not very common in rural areas at present but there are plenty of boats in the vicinity during the rainy season. Boats are one of the main means of transportation from one place to another, i.e. from one village to another, during this monsoon season. Floods are raging in the northern and central parts of Bangladesh and if there is a lot of rain in this situation, those of us in the south are also likely to be affected by the floods. The flood situation is certainly very delicate and harmful but it is really very pleasant to travel by boat in such a situation during the rainy season.

Starting:

First, we rent a boat so that six or seven people can travel effortlessly. The boat was not very big it was a dinghy (small) boat. At first the three of us started the journey and we were supposed to be joined by two more. There are six of us including the boatman. Since the boat was small, it was almost the same size for 6 of us. And if one or two people joined, the boat might not be able to hold on anymore.

Initially, the three of us started the journey together, then we called a friend in the next village and from his village we picked up the other two in the boat. Above all, we continue to travel with six people, including a boatman. As you can see in the picture, there are lots of water lilies in the surrounding land and various aquatic plants.

Journey Experience:

After all, the sun was shining less in the afternoon and the atmosphere was very captivating. Since our boat had no engine it was man driven so there was no noise pollution. And thus, the atmosphere was very calm and we were slowly moving forward. I was enjoying the enchanting view. The more the sun set, the more beautiful the natural environment became. We picked up some water lilies and took some pictures from the surrounding area. We played with water among ourselves for a while. The game was very enjoyable and we were chatting. We spent the afternoon reminiscing with many old friends.

We didn't know when our time end with all this while watching the sunset and taking pictures of the surroundings. Watching the sunset in such a natural environment is a very nice experience for us. I have seen many different sunsets in different environments but it was very quiet and pleasant. Since the water in the vicinity was stagnant and the air was very cold, it brought a lot of peace of mind. We took some food and shared it with everyone. The food we bought from the market shop before boarding the boat which was fresh and hot.
