The Off Day (Iceland Days 5 & 6)

May 2018 · 3 min read

It'll be just one more post before I get to a very fun day. I'm a bit stubborn this time in getting things chronologically, for some reason.

A giant hodge podge of breakfast items. See if you can spot the jar of Icelandic caviar. And yes, there's a burnt croissant too. We're pros.

Today was a day with not a lot to see and a lot of driving to do. I was going to combine into a single post but there were enough pictures that I felt went together that I opted to vamp for a post instead. If it's any consolation I'm working on the next one right away!

Now that I think about it, we had a planned location that was shut off due to weather. The day before we had read about a driver whose car had flipped over. Scary, right? The roads had temporarily closed at the time as well, but we lucked out. The drive was smooth sailing for us.

Here we drove and winded around the bay. As I looked back to the other side I thought it was a nice view and took a moving image. Got a tiny harbor as well.

When we arrived at our stop for the night, we had to split up. This was the only day we were not able to book in the same location. Luckily the place we stayed separately was very close by. But first we had a nice home cooked meal together which for some reason I don't have a photo for. There are lamb chops in there that we bought on a whim from the grocery store.

One of us drew us into the guestbook as well. There's a little ditty that I think is better suited for Austria ha.

Then I drove two of us to the other location and that was the end of the day. Driving is tiring (even when you're not the driver. Poor driver...)

And this is the next morning breakfast. Traditional Icelandic fare. Cold cuts and such. Not our favorite but it'll do. Contrast this with the first picture in the post. We like hot food.
