An unexpected discovery of this rustic coffee shop along Gaya Street.
We were initially searching for the Sunday Market or Sabah's popular sang nyuk mee stall.
However, as we walked along Gaya street on the way towards the direction of the Sunday Market (which apparently does not only open on Sundays, contrary to its' name) from Little Gaya Hotel, we saw ahead of us a bustling shop lot. Hence, we decided to have breakfast there. Well, we actually stumbled upon one of the popular eateries, famous for their pineapple custard bun.
The pineapple custard bun was normal. Tasted better ones. The custard was neon yellow.
Au naturale? Don't even want to think of the amount of colouring they have used as the pineapple taste was faint for a pineapple custard. The bun itself, however, was not too bad and the crust at the top was actually crisp and nicely baked.
We ordered noodles with mixed beef (and its' spare parts) and this was really (really) good.
The springy noodles were tossed and basked in a gravy heavy with the essence of beef broth (beef lovers and herbal food lovers would really appreciate this), the meat was tender and the beef spare parts was immaculately succulent. Note the layers and the texture of the meat. Still salivating over it now, just by thinking of it and looking at the picture.
Drinks were normal. The iced coffee had an aromatic espresso flavour to it despite being diluted.
Worth trying. At least just for the authentic beef noodles salivating
