Falaleevo

May 2019 · 3 min read

In 2017, I was on a suspension bridge across the Luzhenga River, knowing that there are abandoned villages behind it. But I could not think that the village of Falaleevo is located directly at the top of a steep bank. The suspension bridge, by the way, was repaired last year.

Falaleevo is a village that enters the bush of villages along the river Luzhenga. Located in the Veliky Ustyug district of the Vologda region. Included in the Samotovinsky rural settlement. The distance to the district center Velikiy Ustyug by road is 39 km, to the center of the municipal entity Novator in a straight line is 20 km. According to the 2002 census, the population was 1 person.

On the high bank there is an old, overgrown path that runs along a cliff.

The suspension bridge looks tiny from such a huge height, although from below the coast does not seem so high. Everything is relative!

Pines here grow right on the steep, as the wall, bank of the river. Their roots are very strongly developed and have a thickness comparable to the tree trunk itself.

What amazing places people used to live in! All these natural beauties accompanied them throughout their lives.

Even in ancient times, the view from the steep bank was not so overgrown, which means that the spaces opened up for many kilometers.

Let's return from beauty to reality. At the moment in the village there are three abandoned houses.

The huts themselves are fairly simple, but they have elements of carving on the facade.

Judging by the installations, people are often here.

Among the trash a lot of iron and even non-ferrous metal. It is not possible to take all this good out of here - the road here simply does not exist! Only walking path, which is maintained thanks to the suspension bridge.

People goes here for firewood. Log cabin extensions to the house slowly sawn into chocks.

The second house very soon will turn into dust...

On the facade there are also elements of the thread.

There is absolutely nothing left from the extension.

The third house is much larger. It is evident that it was a large peasant farm.

And now there is nothing left but garbage and barely preserved household items.

Inside there is not even a floor.

Economic extension is almost half of the whole house.

Falaleevo is a village of a great many that were abandoned due to the lack of transport accessibility.

Although below, the village of Vlasovo still lives quite close by.

In the distance, the steep bank of the Luzhenga River is visible. There are a lot of them here and their height is comparable with the banks of the Sukhona.
