Ryazanovo

May 2019 · 2 min read

Ryazanovo - natural boundary, a former village in the Veliky Ustyug district of the Vologda region. It is part of the Mardengsky rural settlement.

The houses in this village have been preserved slightly better and are huge five-walls with mezzanines and balconies. It used to be a beautiful place.

But the bathhouses are all kind of lop-sided in these places...

The road to the residential village of Falevo passes through the village of Ryazanovo. Just drove a tractor. From afar you can hear the sounds of a chainsaw. Dogs are barking. Somewhere in this area there is still life!

It is strange that Ryazanovo is located very close to the highway, but abandoned. And a little further - is a residential village!

Turning back, I saw the hills that I had just walked, studying the remains of the village of Mardenga. The views here are just amazing! The landscape is visible for several kilometers.

Wildflowers are beginning to slowly dress up the field.

Old birch, unable to withstand the onslaught of the wind, broke down.

Another strange thing is that in the presence of houses the place is abolished in the natural boundary, while Mardenga is still a village status!

Then I went to a steep slope. It was the bank of the river Mardenga. On the shore grow tall spruces and a huge birch.

Far away is the residential village of Falevo.

It's time to go back. Again, on my way, the destroyed bridge and the overgrown road. There is some kind of hard surface on the grass next to the bridge: perhaps there are still plates or even asphalt under the grass.

I came to Mardenga more than once. I just could not understand how such a large village could so quickly disappear from the face of the earth? Most often, people leave the villages due to lack of transport accessibility, and here, after all, there is a very good road nearby!

The abandoned territory begins to grow overgrown with young trees at such a rate that sometimes it seems as if nature is trying to compensate for all those felled forests, trying to make up for its losses.
