Summer in Totma

Summer in Totma

June 2018 · 2 min read

In Totma I was brought on the occasion of a business trip - a forum competition took place among the regional newspapers in the eastern part of the Vologda region. My task was to take the editor-in-chief and the journalist, and myself to get around Totma all the way.

I started from the microdistrict (or village) of Varnitsy, namely from the place where the abandoned church of the Resurrection of Christ stands.

This place I like the identity and coziness. One of my favorite places in Totma.

On that day a strong gusty wind was blowing from the very morning, as large trees were bent to the ground.

On the territory of the city there are two small rivers: Pesya Denga (Dog's Coin in russian) and Kovda, which merge into one and then flow into the Sukhona river. One of the bridges across the river Kovda with updated rails.

I always loved various paths, walkways, bridges - in Totma this is all in abundance!

Along Pesya Denga is the same beauty - the views from the hill are simply amazing!

Comfortable and cozy environment. Maybe locals and got used to such places, but I really like it!

In the distance, the Ascension Cathedral of the Savior-Sumorin Monastery can be seen, from the ancient walls of which, apparently, a piece has broken away, fell into the river and was demolished by the current.

Pesya Denga - small river - you can go in ordinary boots.

The fence tower has been in the process of restoration for many years.

In the monastery area there are two bridges across the river.

The monastery itself is in a very ruined condition, but was once very large and majestic.

Inside, restoration work is carried out everywhere.

The most "new" is the Ascension Cathedral! Oh, and it's huge near!

Under the walls of Savior-Sumorin monastery there is a football field and just a beautiful meadow.

Entry into the territory is free for cars.
