June 2018 · 6 min read

Ask yourself, what is your goal for a vacation? Most of the time, the only reason you're going for a vacation because you wanted to be away from the stresses that are piling up on your shoulders. To be away from the people, the overloaded work or just to find peace.

While it might sound like an impossible task for a workaholic to take a step back from the computers, focus just on their vacation. It is not as hard as you think. All you need is to work out some travel plannings, a great holiday mindset, and alternatively a great companion. Soon you'll ask yourself the question, why haven't I done this earlier?

Here are some of the tips to guide you to a stress-free vacation. Leaving all your stresses at home.

Set a goal for your vacation

Everyone has distinctive preferences, depending on their goal. Some are into shopping, relaxing at the beach or focus on exploring the old town. While everyone might have different goals, but the ultimate solution to a stress-free vacation is by setting an ultimate goal together with your partners or your friends that you're traveling with. Before traveling, take time to sit down together, discuss and plan ahead to set a collective goal. Either you're aiming for a relaxing, adventurous or a party celebration. You'll realize that these plannings can save you from falling into those awkward arguments and disagreements.

Plan Ahead

Most of the time, we are stressed out because we failed to plan ahead. Take 30 minutes a day to plan out your itinerary to cut those unnecessary stress out while you're traveling. This way, you don't have to worry about getting lost, having difficulties to look for food or just worrying about where your next place should visit.

Pack Lightly

Don't stress yourself to bring the whole wardrobe with you while you're traveling. Too much of luggage makes you struggle in many ways. Getting caught up with human traffic to transport your luggage, waiting in lines to get that luggage check-in, and to collect them. Leave all those worries behind by just a carry-on, easy to be transported and you can even save some bucks from baggage check-in for a nice meal.

Pack your clothing according to the weather and the place that you're visiting. Don't bring a heel if you know that you're going to explore places like the mountains. Avoid bringing all the amenities like shower gel, shampoos, hair conditional, and hair treatment oil. Get these at the nearest convenience store instead. I am pretty sure it won't cost you much. I am pretty sure pack lightly is going to keep you away from stress, choosing an outfit from the millions that you brought.

Be flexible

It's ok to be spontaneous sometimes. Don't always just stick to what you've planned. Keep your schedule flexible, don't feel the rush to complete your travel list. Instead, try to venture out of your travel plan, be spontaneous to catch some of-of the unplanned activities or events that caught your eye. Participate in the local events, explore the hidden alleys, relax at a cafe to enjoy a coffee or catch a nap by the beach. This way you don't have to risk of having your tour canceled, rushing over for a flight or ends up with a holiday that throws you off the bus.

Travel To An Underrated Destination

It might sound risky and dangerous traveling to low rating places. Thinking that there are not many restaurant choices for you to choose from, not many people that you can interact with or just places to visit. However, your main focus of having a stress-free vacation can be easily fulfilled. Being away from the massive crowd of tourists and over-priced restaurant is perfect for you to just take your time to discover the back alleys. You'll be amazed that how much you enjoy being away from the masses and tourist traps.

Travel With Travel Insurance

Honestly, I wouldn't travel without any travel insurance. Probably because I know that medication is not cheap and it could really be a burden if you're not careful enough with what you eat or the places that you go. To have a stress free vacation, travel insurance really come in handy to keep you safe and secure. Travel insurance doesn't just cover your medical emergencies but also gives you an assurance on your belongings like cameras, laptop, and etc.

Do a Background Check of The Place

Before heading to your destination, check out the weather. If it's raining, bring a raincoat or waterproof casing to keep your electronics safe from water. Bring appropriate clothing according to the weather. Be aware of the surrounding, do research of where to get help during emergencies. Find out what to do and don't to avoid any misunderstanding with the locals.

Download Offline Map

Navigation is crucial especially if you're in a foreign country. Without a secure navigation, you'll risk of losing your way to your hostel or hotel. Exposing yourself to different possibilities of a crime's target. Offline Google Map or Maps.me is my favorite to go apps. It's definitely reliable and I don't need to be afraid of losing my way home.
