On this occasion I bring evidence and photographic description of my visit to Santorini. An incredible paradise embraced by the Aegean Sea in Greece, territory of the Olympic gods, cradle of the ancestral mythology, history and environment endowed with an exuberant coastal and continental marine beauty. Without further ado, let's begin this brilliant ecosystem review full of adventure and fabulous stories.

As I have been sharing in my post, I have dedicated a series of photographic syntheses to describe my emotion, feelings, historical and mythological heritage, folk tales and beliefs that continue to live on in the mind and heart of the noble Greek people.

Within this atmosphere, it is possible to imagine the thunderous clash of the swords of the great Hector and Achilles in their legendary fight. Experiences that I registered of our tourist guides and people with whom I shared this wonderful adventure for the Mediterranean.

People say with much emotion that Eufemo, son of Poseidon with Europe, this last daughter of the giant and powerful Ticio; integrated the crew of Jason in his legendary trip with the Argonauts, who sailed from PΓ‘gasas to Colquides in their eagerness to find the Golden Fleece.

It happened that during the rugged journey they went to give the lake Tritonis (Lebanese coasts) and the intrepid Euphemism dared to rebuke the god Triton, who guided him on the exit and correct course, also gave him a portion of sacred land that he threw into the Aegean Sea and from there emerged the mountainous plateau that he called KallistΓ©, later would be baptized as Thera and then adopted the name of Santorini.

No longer from a mythological point of view, but from a geophysical and orogenic perspective, the territory of the island Santorini began its uprising some 180,000 million years ago.

The enormous forces of the earth's interior designed and molded this abrupt and precious territory. The Aegean geo-oceanic subplate, part of the African tectonic plate, began to push the Eurasian tectonic plate to engage in an oceanic subduction process that ended up sculpting this legendary island.

Passionate followers of Aristocles Podros (Plato), came to think and compare the ecosystemic preciousness of this island with the lost and much sought after Atlantis. The movement of the lithosphere continues its work on the molten zone of the asthenosphere (rock - molten mantle) and just below the ground where I was standing, underlies an active volcanic caldera.
