On the last few days of Fallas, once all the figures have been erected, you get roughly four days to see as many of them as possible. As we’ve mentioned before, there are roughly 400 large figures, so you have to pick and choose which ones you’ll visit. Although, we’re sure someone’s tried to see them all… and to be honest, we’ve thought about making the attempt ourselves.
In this post we’re featuring figures which are not in the Special Category, or Sección Especial. These are usually smaller but often more creative. For example this monument by commissioned by the Zapadores – Vicente Lleó casal, which reflects on social media vs reality by displaying the two faces of a young woman: depressed in real life, but pretending to have so much fun online. Very thoughtful, and we found the style of this piece appealing. This would be the last figure we’d see burn on the night of the Cremà.
You might be challenged by sensory overload, while walking around Valencia during Fallas, since on almost every corner there is a a new figure. By the end, you’ll probably find yourself just walking by some, without even paying much attention, unless they’re particularly interesting or weird.
In the process of editing these photos, I was forced to take a second look at these figures, and noticed so many details which I had missed in person. These figures are unbelievably detailed; at the larger monuments, you can find something new with every step you take while walking around them.

Please enjoy these photos of the Fallas monuments from smaller commissions. For example, you’ll see the money transporter, commissioned by the casal of Mossén Sorell-Corona; it vanished overnight on the day of the Cremà and as far as we understood hasn’t been found or burned.
