Finding The Words To Pen Down My Feelings

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia serves as my gateway to the rest of (Southeast) ASIA. At the moment, I can't say I fancy staying in Kuala Lumpur, don't get me wrong, I have been to the city not just once but thrice. However, the city just drowns me with a lot of mixed emotions. Or perhaps it's my wallet talking because of the MYR to PHP* exchange rate. Strictly speaking, I am but a poor traveler.

The streets of Kuala Lumpur has a whole lot of vibe going on. One can't help but notice the cultural diversity and how open locals and foreigners interact. The city will amaze you with its modern skyline which is of course dominated by the 451 meter tall Petronas Twin Towers. Thought you had the whole city figured out? Wait up! Apart from the towering skyscrapers, you'll see mosques, mogul style domes, and interestingly, British colonial-era landmarks, for instance, the Kuala Lumpur Railway Station.

Trivialities

Trivia 1: For someone who is into photography, I am quite strange because I don’t have my own camera. For me, probably the best way to take spontaneous, undetected photographs is to always have my mobile phone.

Trivia 2: Since I know nothing about camera settings because I am the point-and-shoot “amateurish” kind of photographer, I am all about capturing a certain moment’s spontaneity. In life, timing is essential!

Trivia 3: I make it a point to anticipate what is about to unfold in front of me. Hence, emphasizing the importance of patience just so I could get the perfect shot that I wanted.

Of People and Photographs

I have mastered the art of snapping photos without the subject’s knowledge. My introverted side usually prevents me from asking their permission hence, I always end up with candid photos. All the more, I am scared of being rejected.

Rejection does not always mean one’s not good enough, it simply means the other person failed to notice what one has to offer. From today on, never think that you are rejected from something good, the universe is actually re-directing you to something better.

Rejection can be so disheartening but you just have to channel that to somewhere positive and move on from there. Life sometimes is just like taking a photograph, you have to position yourself strategically and have a slightly different perspective!

Dear Steemians, I hope these photos are visually entertaining to you all. In closing, the fear of disapproval is real! When you get to lean on too much on the approval of people, somehow it becomes a bed of thorns. It takes a lot of courage to power through rejection.

This is my photo entry for @juliank’s and @photocontests#cityscapephotography challenge.
