The olive's harvesting season isn't over yet and although we have finished with the production of our own olive oil, we are still working on the fields! The past few days we are helping some friends to harvest their trees. So we have moved to their house, in a village that is located about an hour away from ours in order to avoid aimless moving.
Last year I wrote a thorough post about the whole procedure of olives harvesting and olive oil extraction. What I didn't tell you is that in order to use the harvesting sticks the trees have to be dry, otherwise you jeopardize the tree's well being (apart from the fact that it is extremely unpleasant to work on the fields on a rainy day). And yesterday was a rainy day indeed which means that we had the day off. The perfect opportunity to walk around the village taking pictures!
Lithines is one of the many, very old and very beautiful villages of Crete, Greece. You can find it on the east side of the island away of the big resorts and the waves of tourists that are visiting our land every year!
I love the well preserved stone built houses as well as the non renovated ones that are gracefully aging.
The search for picturesque details was so, so easy! Every corner, every little road, every house was providing an abundance of pictures ready to be taken :)

And a short afternoon walk on the mountain gave the opportunity for a panoramic view of the area and the village itself.
