Last wednesday we had to stay out of the house all day, by reasons I won't bore you with, so with no plan, we just went out...! The first idea was driving up to Passo Rolle, which is a beautiful mountains pass nearby, but we came to a closed road sign, which is no surprise, since many of the mountain roads has been and are still closed after the huge storm we had last week!
So we went the other way and as I caught the view of Castel Pietra, I thought let's go there!
(I dare to use the tag #wednesdaywalk since it was a walk.. that i did on a wednesday..!)

You know, I realised I don't even have a photo of this Castle Ruin from far! I have seen it so often, since you see it from Fiera di Primiero, that I didn't even take a photo of it! So I had to borrow this one to show you the view I saw :)

Anyway we decided to go!
We parked the car at the little spot at the side of the road, not blocked by fallen trees (!) and ventured in through the trees. First we crossed a pristine little stream.
And not surprisingly, but sadly, the path to get to the rock and the castle was also hit by the storm and fallen trees!
We made our way and got to the rock!
The exact history of the Castle is unknown, but most certainly it has served as an escape from enemies or a lookout post.
Rock climbers climb these rocks with equipment, but for us non-equipped types, it's up that ladder you see here:
You know, I'm not normally scared of heights. I have problems with tight spaces (I'd rather climb the ladder than take the elevator, if there was one..!) But climbing that ladder anyway gave me a bit the creeps! And I decided to do it alone and let papa stay with Willow down! I'm not taking my 3 year old up on that cliff, he's perfect size to go through the holes on that ladder! And there's a pretty serious drop under - I was too scared to start taking pictures on the middle of the stairs, but I'm sure you can imagine!
After the stairs there is a small bit to climb up the side of the cliff, and then you reach the castle wall, with no door, just a rope to climb up the ca. 3 meter high wall!
I don't know if the fact that I was up there alone made me more nervous, but fact is that I gave it one try, and then.. nah, gonna go and check out the view.. first..!
Oh, drop!
Then I got back to the wall and tried again. This time I almost got up to see over the wall, but came down again.
Okay, I'm just gonna go back to Willow and Roberto.. They must be waiting..!

Hell no! Now I've come this far, I can climb that petty wall! At least I can't make a steemit post with this ending you know!

So I did it and got over the wall!
Inside little christmas trees are coming up all over and then I couldn't stop associating all those great window lookouts with @manoldonchev's last photo challenge "A Frame Within The Frame"!

In general, the weather was not the best for photography, but at least it didn't rain..!

There was even a well, that high up on a rock!
And then there was a little surprise gift box!
People had left little cars - and condoms for someone who might need them ;) Unfortunately my pockets were empty. I would have left a little drawing if I had something to draw with.
In retro perspective I could have found some coals in this little wall-fireplace and painted with on one of the tickets - don't know why I didn't think of that!

We went back to the car and hunted for a place to get something warm to drink, but everywhere was closed.
We saw a lot of more fallen forest along the way, it is really scary to witness such destruction so close.. And just a week later hear about all the forest fires near to friends houses in California!
What is happening to our forests and nature..!? We cannot afford losing more trees!
