Let's travel together #53 - The Museum of Trovants (Muzeul Trovantilor)

March 2018 · 4 min read · Vâlcea

Hmm.. The Museum of Trovants..sounds interesting but what could it be? Have you ever thought that out there are living stones? I am sure that not so many of you know about this kind of stones, so if I made you curious - keep reading
This post will blow your mind! 🤯

First of all I will give some information about where is this museum located and how to get there. The museum is situated on 8KM away from Horezu, in a village called Otesani, Romania. As you can see in the first picture, the museum is right next to the main road which makes the connection between Râmnicu Vâlcea and Târgu–Jiu and the large wooden gates will catch your attention without even knowing what they hide inside. An important aspect is that the museum is outdoors so every is welcome to cross the doors and visit this awesome place, as there are no taxes or fees needed. 💸

Now getting to serious stuff. What are trovants? Well as everybody knows, normal stones don't really have something in common, those having different dimensions and shapes. Talking about trovants..which are also stones - but the interesting thing about them is that they look different than any other rock and are quite alike to each other trovant, usually having spherical or ellipsoidal shape. If you pay attention to the picture you will notice the fact that they have something special than any other stone. Don't really know what but I'm sure everybody can recognize a trovant comparing it with other 100 different stones. The trovants are also known as *living stones* - and nope, there are not only rumors about them but it's the reality itself. Those are also known as *the found children* which are growing especially after rain. If you will cut one of those rocks you will find inside similar rings to those of the trees.

There are also legends saying that the aliens themselves came to the earth and planted those stones, but I tend to believe more to what scientists say - those stones with strange shapes are spheroidal concretions created by myocene granular sediments which were formed for over 10 million years ago. There are even some locators which affirmed that when the rain stops, the sand stars to gather in different piles and this is how the trovants are actually born. Even though the stones grow only about 4-5 cm every 1200 years, some people are scared about these considering them very strange rocks which send only bad vibes. But there are also the other kind of people who believe that they get lucky if they bring one little trovant to their homes. 👽

Personally I'm somewhere between all these rumors. I do believe that something strange happens to you when you get around trovants but I also think that they can't hurt you in any way. I remember when I visited this place there where like 3 puppies with a big dog, all of them sleeping. Nothing strange about it - but when I got closer to them they could barely move. It was like they were making a few steps then fell down, it was so weird. Firstly I thought the hot weather may be the reason but all of them were acting the same way. So I started playing with one of them but he wasn't having any reaction. Like he couldn't understand what happens to him. I really hope that these puppies are safe and nothing bad happened to them. 🐾

As strange as it sounds, I really recommend you to visit these kind of stones when you get the chance to. It really is something different than anything else and the experience itself is something great. For example we, in Romania, have not one but about 3 or 4 different places where these trovants can be found.
I really hope you enjoyed the post - it was something way different than what I've written about so far.
But don't get too scared! The stones will just grow and move until they find you and eat you! Absolutely no danger here, lol.
