Texas Tulips: A Piece of Holland in Texas 🌷

Texas Tulips: A Piece of Holland in Texas 🌷

March 2018 · 3 min read · Texas

It's finally here --springtime! It's officially the First Day of Spring! 🌸🌼🌺 The best part about spring for me? The excuse to get outside (hibernate no more)! 😁 And I'm such a sucker for spring blooms. If you're looking for me this time of the year, you'll either find me tip-toeing through tulip or Bluebonnet fields, or hiking in the woods🌳, picking wildflowers.

In one of my last posts, I shared with you 10 Fun Things To Do In Texas This Spring. One of my favorites among them is to go pick my own tulips at Texas Tulips, a pick-your-own tulip farm in Pilot Point, Texas. It's run by a Dutch couple who came to Texas on a holiday, fell in love with the place, and decided to set up a tulip company here.

Of course, I love getting pictures clicked and it's a great to have these gorgeous pictures to treasure long after the blooms season has passed. Since the farm is just a sweet one hour drive away from Dallas, every year I make it a point to head there to start off my spring adventures with some beautiful tulips. Tulips in Texas? Yes, you read that right! We have our very own tulips and like everything else in Texas, they are big and beautiful!

Last weekend, @kwlvarun and I took the short day trip to Texas Tulips. It was a beautiful sunny day, perfect for spending a day picking your own tulips and getting some pictures clicked. Even though we reached there by noon, we were quite surprised to see the crowds of people. I guess everybody loves tulips! 🙂

I picked a basket and went strolling through colorful fields, picking my favorite tulips. No matter how many times I've done this before, each time feels special and joyful. I'll let the pictures do the talking.

You've got to be careful while picking tulips. The right way is to pinch and twist the stem. If you pull the tulip upward from the soil, you'll end up taking out the bulb too.

Spending a day here brings back memories of Keukenhof Gardens in Netherlands. All that's missing is a windmill!
