After my quarantine time in Budapest was over, i was headed to Vienna for an job interview and than arrived to the place of my origin fabulous South Bohemia. Yes that is the real name. The origin of the word Bohemian comes from this area and the lifestyles people were living.
Having nothing better to do than visiting government offices after half a year abroad, sorting out a driving licence and insurance stuff, I also wanted to meet my friends and see what have changed around in the countryside.
For that matter, an old school road bike is the best tool.
The whole area or district if you will is quite bicycle friendly, although you have to pick your way, not to end up somewhere on highly frequent road. Luckily I was visiting a friend of mine doing some sort of woodworking workshop in one fairly isolated village, so i did took the bike for a spin...
The landscape is full of little hills and rivers which you have to get over and makes your riding really enjoyable. The greenery in this time of the year is also at it's peak and is typical central European mix.
Since the middle ages the local rulers were preparing for dry, hot summers and had lot of ponds built. One of them was the founder of the city of Budweiser Beer - Otakar the second.
That is probably the single most iconic view of South Bohemia. People resting next to the water sources under the shadow of a tree, fishing, or just enjoying their afternoon.

On the way to Cesky Krumlov - The single most visited Czech town, some holiday villages emerge and the overall vibe is as chilled as the local beer.
After Cesky Krumlov the countryside changes more and more into mountainous terrain. Summers are generally colder, it rains more and spruce trees are dominant element there.
Also the village houses are showing off some of their Germanic influences.

Almost without any car traffic I was pushing through the hot air, motivated to arrive to Brloh. Where beer and swimming pool were awaiting me. I could have went the easy way and be there in one and half hour or so, But instead chose the longer version with these amazing views and at the end was well worth it. Highly recommending to visit Czech with your or rented Bicycle.
