Because dad has not seen his long time friend Mano Pabling for some time we spent some time to visit him after having her he suffered from a heart attack that left him paralyzed waist down.
Carcar is known for its crispy "chicharun " and cheap sandals. But do you know that "chicharun"or deep fried pork skin pales in comparison to the century houses they have which locals takes for granted. Here I saw more preSpanish homes than the famous Vigan.Too bad for this trip we didn't see many as our main goal was too visit and it's too darn hot outside too.
Above picture was taken from their dispensary. Just at the back of this building is an Olympic size swimming pool which become torture chamber during the war. My folks went around the building enjoying it for free.
Later we went to see the church and the monastery just a few blocks away. Too bad just like my first and second trio here by myself, the church is locked. Something I don't quite understand why they have to do that. I get it that their are antique theft but how about having a little faith of man's goodness ,how's that?
This Holy Week, this place would be a favorite among the devout.Too bad the traffic to and from Carcar is terrible. Yet unlike most places when you get here you have social network worthy pictures of the church, the dispensary, the monastery and the private homes with their intriguing stories.
Dad and ma were so into the experience see them examine it closely. And I can't blame them as if as drawn into them too thr first time I have been there.
It was said that Cebu is the Manikina of the Visayan. Marikina is famous for old rich who were into footwear industry. Hence no wonder you would see shoe makers and peddlers all around the town. It explains also why so many well preserved 100 year old or more private homes are in this side of Cebu.
