Hail Alexander ! Thoughts if my history classes raced through me as I saw the statue of Alexander the Great in Danforth ,Toronto. For those who doesn't know him he was the mighty Greek conqueror .And who else but he adorns this parkette in Greektown.

Canada being a multicultural country has a bustling Greek community. One can see street signage in Greek alphabet. Also naturally if you're in this side of town you'd hear people speak the language, as well as serve Greek cusine.

As a child I came to know of this ancient ciivilization through its philosophers, arts and famed beauty comparable to the gods and goddesses. Back then their stories of great exploits was my escape from day to day boredom of a life devoid of television and cellphone.

Yes they were famous for their monumental and classic architecture so I was a bit disappointed not to see those in this area.

Needless to say it was interesting as we get a glimpse of a country I have yet to see with my own eyes.

For now I will content myself with this fountain and chirping birds on trees. As I listen to the sound it makes and feel splashes of water I can only day dream what it's like back then to lazily recline with wine and other foodies had I been born of royal blood and with face that as the book said "can launch a thousand ships".Dang maybe this great warrior Alexander would be at my feet.lol.

So, if you're looking for an authentic Greek food and wanting to strike a conversation in Greek this is the place to be.Who knows if you're lucky you'd have a big fat Greek wedding and a honeymoon in one of the most romantic places on Earth. As for me on a shoestring budget I will have to content myself with this for the moment.
