The first trip of 20 years being friends.

We’re all just 25 but we have been best friends for 20 years since we were in kindergarten. Such a long time.

We always talked about taking a trip together at least once before one of us getting married. We plan a lot but never able to make it comes true for a lot of reasons: financial sittuation, schedule differences, works,... We have always delayed it but now, it seems like we really dont have much time to be with each other as single ladies any more. Mai announces that she is going to get married soon. It means that she is no longer independent to travel where ever she wants. That is why we make decision really quick and choose Malaysia to be the destination for our first trip ever.

We have almost 2 months for preparing. And you know what, we spend most of time just to discuss about what to wear. Lol. Girls!!!

This trip is not easy because we’re all living in different places. Trang and Oanh need to take a night bus about 5 hours to go from my hometown to Hanoi to gather with me. And from here, we depart to KL. About Mai who is currently living in Singapore, she take a flight from Singapore to KL at the same time with us. Finally, we meet each other in KL airport (KLIA2). How happy to gather after a long time in a strange place.

Penang - We’re coming

With just 5 days 4 nights trip, we plan to spend 2 days in Penang and 3 days in Kuala Lumpur. The first day is almost spent for moving: fly to KL then from KL to Penang.
Finally, we arrive Penang about 6.30pm and totally ready for the Girls’ night out.

What a coincidence is the first day of the trip is also Mai’s birth day. It seems like we took a long trip just to be here with her to say “happy birthday”.

We are almost starving after 2 flights and so many fights (as usual). Fortunately, our hostel is located in the center, right next to the main streets with so many local and street foods.
We decide to explore the street foods first and eat as much as we want before get in the bar for party.

Penang is known as a foody wonderland where every cuisines in the world concentrated. Among all of it, Chinese and Indian styles are absolutely outstanding and really represent the best parts of Malaysian cuisine.

Satay - and a cold bottle of beer will be a perfect combination for a summer night in Penang.
The other dishes, I forget the name but mainly chinese seafoods.

Char Koay Tew (?!) - With me it is a Malaysian version of Padthai, but Padthai is much beter, of course.

Chilling time at the Rockafellas.
The live band is so cool, the food is nice, the atmosphere is great and the price is acceptable. We really have a great birthday party here and everyone is tipsy. :))

Penang - The city of foods and arts.
