Today i had decided i wanted to see some abandon buildings they always interest me in the fact of wanting to know what when on in these buildings before they were abandon. I took the Skytrain to Sathorn Pier and then a Taxi Boat along the Chao Phraya river and three stops up is where i wanted to get of called the Si Phraya Pier i knew there was a old abandon building just walking distance of the pier by the river.
Now i never knew what this old abandon building was i had just seen it from riding along the river in the taxi boat but it looked interesting enough and it was just what i was looking for so i hopped of at Si Phraya Pier and go and investigate.
As i got of the boat and looked at this old abandon building from the pier already i was in ore of excitement i just wanted to dive straight through the doors but of course they had security guards around the place and that wasn't going to be possible and even had signs around saying no photos ..what the heck but i never take noticed of them till i am told so...hehe..so here i am shooting away and none of the security guards were bothered to get of there chairs and chase me around in the heat...lol :)
I did find a couple of ways of getting inside these building but i didn't want to be dragged to a police lock up if they caught me so i just went about enjoying the characteristics of this once awesome building and as always these Banyan Trees seem to shoot out from every crack and take a hold on anything abandon in Thailand which does add more horror movie spookiness to the whole scenery.

So what i had actually stumble in on was "The Old Customs House" in Bangkok this 3 storey majestic and magnificent building is the definition of the elegant Palladian style customs house adjacent to the Chao Phraya river and built in 1888 by a Austrian - Italian architect Joachim Grassi.
The old customs house represented the prosperity of the Kingdom of Siam now known as the Kingdom of Thailand it bought by trade relations with Western countries during the reign of King Rama V but it also reflected the importance of the river as the trade route , which significantly contributed to the transition from monopolyto free trade.
As the headquarters of The Customs Department the customs house levied import and export duties in order to solve smuggling problems and a rate of 3% of the import and export value of goods was changed at that time.

Apart from being the customs house the building was capable of accommodating a diverse array of activities such as foreign delegate accommodation , ball and even coronation ceremony of King Rama V.
I have heard that this historical building will be coming back to life in the near future it will be turned in to a luxury hotel in a heritage style.
