The Best Bonsai , Cactus & Flower Market in Bangkok.

December 2019 · 5 min read · Bangkok

Yesterday for my #wednesdaywalk i had decided to take a wonder back to Rama IX park to see the December flowers as last time i was there nearly 2 months ago they were all been planted so i figured by now they should be all at full bloom well yes they were all at full bloom and looking really pretty but unfortunately i was distracted by something more exciting that had been set up in this huge park.

On arrival to Rama IX Park which is also referred to as Suan Luang Rama IX Park i entered through Gate 6 there are several gates around the park that you can enter the park area is 500 rai ( appox 200 acres ) and the park was built to celebrate King Bhumibol Adulyadej's sixtieth birthday in 1987, and was opened by the King on 1 December that year.

As i was making my way into the park i looked in front on me and couldn't believe my eyes i had walk into a maze of the most beautiful Orchid flowers some of these orchids i have never seen before my eyes just lit with amazement i couldn't believe what i was seeing i thought they were plastic but no way these were real.

I honestly did not know where to feast my eyes on next i was looking ahead but i couldn't see the end of this flower market there was just flower shop after flower shop so i said to myself just let me pace myself here and enjoy it bit by bit taking all in slowly.

I was finding it had to drag myself away from all these beautiful colorful elegant orchids but when i finally did i found myself in the Bonsai world.

We all know that a Bonsai tree can be and is a spectacular living art and by training your Bonsai and carefully pruning away older leaves to reveal it's hidden heart you and your Bonsai can work together and create that spectacular living art.

They say growing Bonsai plants are known to be a great stress reliever they will make you patient and physically active, as it requires proper care, watering, fertilizing and trimming a great hobby if you can be that person. This Bonsai tree the owner was telling me it's been in the family for 60 years and it's his pride and joy and had of price tag of $4,000 US if anyone was keen to own this piece of living art.

Most of these bigger Bonsai plants all ranged from $1,000 US to $4,000 US but of course if you wanted to be patient and take on the living art of Bonsai's you could buy a smaller one and bring it up yourself like a child and for these you would pay from $50 to $250 US.

The term Bonsai in Japanese literally means "Planted in a Container" and the plant is believed to bring good luck and harmony. It is known that there are Bonsai trees out there that are more than 500 years old what a history they would have only if they could talk...lol...one thing that amazes me with Bonsai trees is there root structure just so architectural.

One other thing i enjoyed looking at were all the superfruit tree plants i always buy these superfruits at the markets but it was interesting to actually see what the tree looked like that bearded this superfruit.

The huge round eggplant was interesting growing on this plant never seen round eggplants that big...lol :)

They also had C S Gardens here , these are the people that do wedding functions and bring there own brigade of live flowers for that special wedding.

Food vendors had even been set up with all my favorite Thai foods this made very homely.

I was really making a day of this there was so much to see countless plant vendors with every plant and flower you could think of then came the countless Cactuses i think every species known to mankind was their.

A cactus is a member of the plant family Cactaceae, a family comprising about 127 genera with some 1750 known species of the order Caryophyllales and as we know Cactus love their sunlight but many thrive as indoor plants and make a great indoor plant mainly the smaller ones.

Cactuses are a succulent plant they take years to grow and years before they produce their first flowers but it's these tiny beautiful flowers that make a cactus so special and beautiful.

I must admit i took hundreds of photos it is not possible to do this flower market all in one post i think i have gone to far as it is now so let me end it here and i will be back next week with Part #2 . Thank you for been patient with all my photos and do hope you enjoyed this post. Thanks for dropping by :)
